Biancolella

Cantina Antonio Mazzella

Ischia Biancolella 2022

This was purchased at Gran Caffe L’Aquila in Philly. Full bodied white, and is quite enjoyable. It develops after warming up closer to cellar temperature. — 2 months ago

Furore Bianco Fiorduva Costa d'Amalfi White Blend

Lot of lemon curd and almond (from the falanghina) and good salinity (from the biancolella). Really acidic and mineral wine - def not for everyone. Long finish with an almost zesty finish. — 2 years ago

Cenatiempo

Kalimera Ischia Biancolella 2021

Very intense white, with concentrated flavors and acidity. Mediterranean salt, minerals, citrus peel. From a tiny island off the coast of Napoli. Great stuff, but definitely a food wine (13% abv). With tonight’s dinner of Italian eggplant shakshouka and sweet potatoes in sesame tahini butter. Blue Raspberry Sour Patch Kids for dessert. — 4 months ago

Casa D'Ambra

Ischia Bianco 2020

Delectable Wine
9.0

The 2020 Bianco, an equal-parts blend of Biancolella and Forastera, opens slowly in the glass, as crushed stone gives way to a flinty mix of dusty dried flowers, incense and pear nectar. It fills the palate with rich, glycerol-like textures, as notes of candied lime and ripe apple give way to honeyed inner florals. Residual acids keep the experience lively and fresh through the finale, as hints of tropical citrus and minerals linger. I’m craving a little more energy on the palate; however, this is a gorgeous, if slightly decadent, Ischia Bianco. (Eric Guido, Vinous, January 2022)

Unti Vineyards

Bianco del Campo 2021

A brilliant CalItal (yes, I said it) blend of Vermentino, Falanghina, Biancolella and Fiano from one of the kings of CalItal (Unti).

Fragrant (lemon ice, lemon verbena) and oh so refreshing (yellow flowers, fresh white melon). Delivers way more elegance and length than you’d expect from a simple porch wine.
