1st release of Montes Alpha was in 1988 when Montes became one of the first premium wineries in Chile. Today Aurelio Montes continues leading the winemaking effort. A blend of 90% Syrah, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon & 3% Viognier. Very dark red with aromas of berry fruit and cedar spice notes. On the palate blueberry and cherry flavors with cacao, leather and vanilla oak. Fine tannins, medium+ finish ending with toasty spice. Nice value. Tasted twice. — 5 years ago
Pleasantly surprised with this one. Found this is the back of my wine cellar forgotten about for a couple years. Ended up being a really nice old world Italian red. No idea what the vintage is — 6 years ago
Aurelio opened this inaugural vintage in honor of the passing of wine owner Luis Delgado.
Complex and complete. Youthful colrr that shows some age in the edge, but center is still purple. Nose is intensely cassis, animal/meaty (not dirty), minty, salted plum. This has a lot of life left, if anyone has bottles left. 😅 — 6 years ago
tastes like salty licorice and spanish peanuts. woah. — 7 years ago

A new tasting experience on several levels. Had never heard of or tasted this grape varietal, Schioppettino. I was looking for a lighter red off the menu at Settimo, Guy Grossi’s new Brisbane venture. Chosen purely because of its location in Friuli ie. cooler climate. The Somm was in the dark but the wine ended up being a revelation. Red cherry and cranberry - intense white pepper on nose and palate. Dried red florals. Love this style. Will be on the lookout for this Cuvée in the future. — 3 years ago

£7.99 for a magnum at LIDL. Hard to go wrong with this wine at this price — 6 years ago
Took 2 hrs to open up, but excellent when it did. Dried roses and asphalt, complex on the palate with fine layers of red and black cherry, tobacco leaf. Long as all get out. Years to go. At Settimo Roma on the rooftop of Rome Sofitel Villa Borghese - worth the price for the view and great food/service. — 7 years ago
Initially mild on the tongue with a sharp quick acid bite that mellows almost immediately. VERY drinkable. Bottle sitting out for the day improved the experience! — 8 years ago
Tar, rose petals and everything Barolo should be, but don't see it getting any better with more time in the bottle — 8 years ago
The 2018 Primitivo Settimo Ceppo displays black cherries, dusty roses and cloves on the nose. The palate is soft and round. Juicy acidity enlivens its red and blue fruits as sour citrus adds contrast. It finishes potent, long and fresh. The Settimo Ceppo is impressive. $20.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, September 2023) — 3 years ago

Tart, dry, refreshing, medium to bold body pineappley — 7 years ago
Loved it. Tart cherries, earthy, long finish, good tannins, but in a medium to light package. Not the best nose. Seems heavy w al. But just 13% al. Great by itself. As good day two. — 7 years ago
Very strong cherry flavor! Smooth! Beautiful color! Light in flavor. Would drink again! — 8 years ago
