Pale-straw in colour, this is a bright, breezy wine that has notes of citrus, honeydew, and apricot with a rich mouthfeel that leaves a fleeting impression of Chardonnay that doesn’t linger (but does add a note of complexity). Don’t punish it with something heavy; it is great with white fish (or a sunset, recliner, and a deck...). // Di un giallo pagliorino, questo è un vino luminoso e che ha note di agrumi, melone melata, e albicocca con una bocca ricca che lascia una breve impressione di Chardonnay che non indugia (ma aggiunge una nota di complessità). 1st release of Montes Alpha was in 1988 when Montes became one of the first premium wineries in Chile. Today Aurelio Montes continues leading the winemaking effort. A blend of 90% Syrah, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon & 3% Viognier. Very dark red with aromas of berry fruit and cedar spice notes. On the palate blueberry and cherry flavors with cacao, leather and vanilla oak. Fine tannins, medium+ finish ending with toasty spice. Nice value. Tasted twice. — 5 years ago
