A delicious, if young, Alsace Pinot Noir. Medium intensity, youthful color. Nose charges out of the batter’s box with musky, fragrant cherries, crushed stone and meadow soil, and a bit of exotic spice. Dry bit with delicious fruit on palate entry, turning lean and emphasizing chalky but soft tannins, good acids, and savory minerals as the palate progresses. A lot of fun to drink now but plainly will get even more interesting over the next few years. — 3 months ago

Bright acidity, almond aged fruits — 3 years ago
This is the second wine I’ve had from this Alsace domain and the second wine where the purity and freshness are almost profound. Gorgeously pure nose has ripe appley Pinot Blanc fruit, accentuated by light spice notes, straw, and moist gravelly earth. Intense but very soft and friendly fruit in the mouth. Again, superb purity (apparently the domain farms biodynamically). Decent acids and a fresh finish that has a little herbal thing. Not complex — it is Pinot Blanc, after all — but very satisfying for a weekday white. — 4 years ago
Still holding on to some great fruit and structure. Earthy and spicy as well. Anniversary wine for 17th. Cheers! — 6 years ago

Domaine Amelie and Charles Sparr “Revelation” Riesling Grand Cru Schoenenbourg. Deep brassy gold color. Big nose has loads of ripe, lightly-spiced apple fruit, cracked stone, a bit of petrol, and torn tarragon leaves. Surprisingly soft and fat textured in the mouth, but totally dry. Ripe appley fruit and some stony minerality. Acids seem low at first but sneak in later to keep it fresh. Delicious now, this will keep a few years but doesn’t seem to be a long ager. — 3 months ago

Outstanding Alsatian Pinot Noir, from vineyards in Wettolsheim, next to Colmar. Precise nose with notes of red fruit, smoke, minerals. Fresh, lively, good acidity — 4 years ago
Really beautiful - crisp and some lemon. Great in a French 75 — 4 years ago
2016 vintage. This estate was bought by Amélie Osmond and Victor Mischler in 2015, so this should be their very first vintage in full control. A very good start for these neophytes with this blend of 75% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Cabernet Franc that displays ripe cherry fruit, spices and some smokiness. It has good concentration and a serious ripe tannin structure, balanced acidity and good length. Provides a lot of drinking pleasure now, but should age well and gain additional complexity. Very good value at just under 10 euros. — 6 years ago
Seriously, this incredible six plus year Pinot was just $25. Certified Biodynamic to boot. Smooth tannins and bright acidity. — 7 years ago
Zesty! Lemon peel, peach, pineapple, and a hint of honey. Long, satisfying finish. — 7 months ago
White flower garden, unripe melon, bit of funk. Opened up over time. Interesting. — 4 years ago
So great. Apparently some Savagnin in there too. Rich citrus liveliness. — 6 years ago
The 2016 Vosne-Romanée Les Petits Monts 1er Cru has a very sensual and creamy bouquet with luscious red cherry and wild strawberry fruit, flirting with jamminess but thankfully avoiding that. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. This is well balanced and more harmonious than its peers, with a fine bead of acidity and a fine-boned finish. This should age with grace and panache and seems like it is putting some distance between itself and Amélie Berthaut’s Les Suchots. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.
