Medlock Ames

Bell Mountain Ranch Red Blend 2006

Just the right amount of age with graceful tannins and still some nice lush fruit present. This wines age well and Medlock Ames continues to score with these wines. — a day ago

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Took a bit to open up but once it did, this was singing. Beautiful purity of dark fruits and nothing overwhelming — 13 days ago

Clos Du Bois

Reserve Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Yeah Alexander Valley Cabernet rarely disappoints. Five years in the bottle helped too. It’s full and smooth and stays way clear of the grapy taste that destroys so many other good vintages. Enough tannins are left to give a nice texture and bring out the earthy flavors. — 12 days ago

Bambule! Neuburger 2015

Orange wine, unfiltered? and closer to white. Good acidity, apricots, almonds, very mineral, grapefruit pith, tropical fruit. At LaLou, new restaurant from the Fausto people on Vanderbilt. — 18 days ago

Chateau St. Jean

Reserve Robert Young Vineyard Alexander Valley Chardonnay 2016

Slightly viscous, pronounced richness, toast, clementine, lemon rind. It was delicious with grilled salmon. And the family particularly liked the bottle, to the extent that counts for anything. — 6 days ago

Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Frank Family 2015 cab... Should I say more? Big black berry beginning with a buttery middle. Waves of vanilla and chocolate consume the palate. Oaky dry finish. No tannins to speak of. AMAZING! — 14 days ago

Big Rock Block Cabernet Franc 2013

The best Cabernet Franc on the table. Although it really did not have much competition. This was the ONLY Cabernet Franc on the table! This one had lots of black cherry, graphite, cocoa, cola, and pie space to the front and middle. The finish still showed moderate astringency with a fair amount of oak, yet this was probably just about as approachable as I have ever seen a bottle of this Cabernet Franc. I would say this one is probably one to two years away from a pop and pour! — 25 days ago

Cyrus Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2010

Late night pour. The nose on this is 💯 Cedar, sage, espresso, stewed dark fruits, savory meats, mint, and Luxardo syrup with loads of herbaceous qualities mingled with baking spices and leather. 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petite Verdot, and 2% Malbec. — 11 days ago

Crawford Beck Vineyard Pinot Noir 2013

Very high acidity, tart cherry — almost like the wine version of a sour beer — balanced well by those velvety Pinot tannins. Really, really good and right up my alley. — 9 days ago

Boatman Alexander Valley Zinfandel 2016

Stood out amongst the tasting of Spring releases. Nice balance. Prune and raisin profiles typical from Zin. Bold fruit. — 8 days ago
