Loma Larga

Unfiltered Rapsodia Malbec 2012

"the cab Frank ads an herby freshness to the otherwise " Textbook Chili" nose. On the palate, the Syrah and Malbec flex their density and power with notes of rich plum, blackberry, and something wild. The cab adds some spice too. Superior palates may get espresso as well. If you let it linger, that herby freshness will return for a great refreshing finish." — 5 months ago

Reserve Columbia Valley Sauvignon Blanc

Complexity! So many Sauvignon Blancs have the same features. This wine gives you all the taste you love with added dimension. Fermentation in concrete ads softness to this wine while keeping the traditional acidity one expects from a Sauvignon Blanc. Lychee, melon and lemon curd on the palate. My go to wine with shellfish. — 3 years ago

Seven Springs Eola - Amity Hills Pinot Noir 2012

Loving this from the terrific 2012 vintage. Evolved nicely in the glass after the decant too. Edges were still present on open. Needed some rounding...

@Antonio Galloni need to be a pest here — doesn’t feel great to pay for premium service but see ads and not get the unlocked ratings.... issues continue.

@Antonio Galloni hi. I’m still getting knocked out of premium and am seeing ads. What do we do here? A bummer to see ads after paying since the day you turned on Premium and posting over 700 wines.

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2006

Classically styled Pauillac with plenty of currants, leather, pencil shavings, spice box. Nice firm tannins that ads a youthful posture. Starting to enter its peak. — 7 months ago

Falkenstein (Franz Pratzner)

Val Venosta Riesling 2018

An Alto Adige Riesling, with some age. Bonkers concentration. Familiar petrol & peach on the nose, but less German or Alsatian acidity & more Italian rounded contours- though that could be the age too. Just enough RS. Perhaps the only tell of its 15$ pedigree is a simple mid palate. Still, some length,& enough acidity to make it lip smacking killer good. Crazy Eddie (for old NYCers who remember the stores’ ads) INSANE bargain. — a year ago

TOR Kenward Family Wines

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Excellent wine. Big and bold cab. Some might think a little heavy on the tannins but I think it ads balance. — 4 years ago

Domaine Weinbach

Famille Faller Vin d'Alsace Riesling 2018

This is such a terrific example of Alsatian Riesling - Dry with great fruit presence: honeysuckle, lemon, lemon peel, apple, pear, mango, pineapple, wet stone, petrol, orange blossom. The petrol ads a nice counterpoint to the floral and fruit notes. Medium plus acidity gives it good dimension.
Long finish, very good quality.

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

L'Hermitage Syrah 2014

Wow, this was a big boy syrah. Broad shouldered with dark inky fruit, meats, black pepper, bay leaf and crushed rock. A bit rustic, but that just ads so much here. Still a baby. — 2 years ago

MontGras

Antu Ninquen Cabernet Sauvgnon Carmenere Red Blend 2015

Great quality at an incredible value which is so typical of Chile's wines. The carmenere ads nice smoky and earthy notes to the cab sav. Very balanced with a good mouth feel. Hints of blackberry and cassis balanced by luscious notes of cherry and plum. — 4 years ago

Hebei Sanjing

Shilixiang Baijiu

Distillery: Hebei Sanjing
Name: Shilixiang Baijiu

Fun apparent fact - Baijiu is the most consumed spirit in the world. But gosh... How little does the Western society know of this spirit. It's so difficult to find information on these bottles that are not in Mandarin (in English basically).

This distillery has to be king of the Hebei province (right outside Beijing). Signboards and ads are plastered everywhere with this very nicely branded disillery (love the bottle).

That said, this was pretty good. Alcohol on the lower side (40% abv). Sorghum and wheat based. It's on the "sweeter" side, even on the nose. Smells a touch musky, herbal and quite smooth on the mid-palate, finishes sweet and strong, but not necessarily harsh. Still burns unlike the Shandong Baijiu, but heck... It's Baijiu. It should burn. In my mind, this has sort of a richness, but not quite like Maotai's style and density. Still learning, so forgive the botched notes.
