Sage, eucalyptus, black olives, and start blackberries. Extremely fruity and full body, typical for a good bottle of syrah. Hint of sour cherries, tobacco, and acai berries too.
Great bottle for its price range. — 7 years ago
Tastes a little flatter than I expected, probably because of 9 years of age.
Be that as it may, medium + body and very fruit-forward flavor profile. Decent acidity and mouthfeel.
Primary notes on the pallet are cured meat, acai berry, black pepper, and plum skin. Hint of tar and gamey jerky. — 8 years ago
So delicious! Plum, black cherry, black currant jam, Acai berry, rowan berry, leather and a hint if tabacco. Rich and structured with lovely acidity and spicy finish — 9 years ago

Beautiful purple color. Looks like syrup in the glass. Acai berry, fruit leather. Tiny bit of clove and Cinnamon. — 8 years ago
Some brett on the nose which blew off quickly. Then dark cherry, acai and pomegranate with chalky elements - an excellent classic burgundy from a good vintage with the elegance expected from a Chambolle - well worth the wait. Over dinner at Ponsaty's in Rancho Santa Fe. — 9 years ago
Exotic red berries and a hint of cured Salumi on the nose. Very aromatisch.and elegant. Long mid palat with flavourful rich acai berries and plum skin. Lengthy lengthy finish. — 10 years ago
8/15/2021: Had at Buckeye Lake Brewery. Really good! Tastes like juice. — 5 years ago
Fresh, organic, sensual. So unbelievably sensual-- deeply perfumed and endlessly complex.
Organic (honestly made me immediately think of wet freshly cut grass that has clumped up underneath the lawnmower. Also, wet forest floor, and bit of smokiness. Bay leaf.) , vegetale (wtf it smells almost like a fresh made bloody Mary plus celery and almost broccoli), meaty (thick cut of bacon), and huge array of red and blue fruit (ripe strawberry, cranberry, acai berry, touch of plum, bit of vine ripe blackberry too).
Acid wonderfully high (and continuing to merge itself nicely back into the fruit as the bottle stays open), tannin mod and deliciously smooth, alcohol mod.
Must note, this is the closest thing to Cote Nuits Pinot that isn't Cote Nuits Pinot... That's a good thing.
This is one of those wines I could write a short story about, and those wines are always fantastic.
Feel like this would hit it's peak at about 2025/2030.

I have quite a number of these, and thank goodness! I feel a little weird opening up one of these bottles as a 2016, but I keep telling myself to FOCUS....this bottle is victim to EXPERIMENT! Compared to previous Silver Eagles, this one IMO seems to have more of a dried floral and acai berry type of nose than the other years that really went more to a dirty raspberry. However, the entry of this wine seems to be a touch less rounded and a little less 'sweet.' The middle of this wine has incredible balance that really shines with food and becomes more delicate without. The finish of this wine has some acidity, getting more black cherry and black tea on the finish. Overall I don't get as much acidity as I had with the 16 SC PN. Definitely keeping the others in the cellar a little while longer. — 8 years ago
Coffee, dark berries. Reminded of brookside chocolate covered Acai berries with coffee. Pretty solid after 30 minutes. — 9 years ago
As I drink the wine, it's very obvious how it is old world by how much iron/graphite comes across the palate. Usually my tongue doesn't dry out from a wine more than my cheeks.. So that was cool! This was just opened at the perfect time. This is like on the peak of its peak and still has finesse to it. Acai berry on the nose and very limited on the palate. Tonight just totally changed my opinion on thinking Merlot was overrated and this wine was phenomenal. — 10 years ago
