Gut Hermannsberg

Weisser Burgunder 2018

From two estate vineyards, aromas of fruit and floral spice, fermented in 600-liter casks. On the palate flavors of ripe apple, pear and nutty floral notes. Medium finish, lively acidity, ending with fruit and toasty spice. — a month ago

Porter Family Vineyards

Time Cabernet Sauvignon

This was a real interesting wine. A Cab from Napa valley where they blend the latest year with all the previous years. They have done that for at least 13 years. So, indeed, a single variety blend of time in a bottle. If I understood it correctly, they add two barrels a year to blend with the previous years and bottle two barrels a year that they sell, about 600 bottles. We had bottle 320 of year X.
The wine was extremely good! Nearly perfect. Like a Trojan horse entering with polished but intense tannins that bursted open in rich dark fruit flavors with hints of dark leather and tobacco. It lingered for minutes on the finish.

This is a wonderful Merlot based Bordeaux Blend from Napa Valley.
Nicely balanced with a great mouthfeel and great complexity.

This 8 year old from the great 2012 vintage is drinking very nicely now. Tasty, smooth and easy drinking.

Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up (30 minutes). Just delicious. I loved smelling on it for a long while.

Thank you Wendy for sharing this with me.

Wine Spectator 92 points.

I had it a couple of years ago, and it wasn't quite there. Blossoming now. Delicious and yummy.

I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats, cheeses and fresh berries.

A blend of 64% Merlot and 36% Cabernet Sauvignon. Grapes are grown at an elevation of 2,100 feet. Aged in (50% new) French oak barrels for 24 months. Less than 600 cases produced.

15.1% alcohol by volume.

Château Margaux

Pavillon Blanc White Bordeaux Blend 2004

A simply glorious aged Bordeaux Blanc, shared for my big four zero, the 2004 Pavillion Blanc by Chateau Margaux is silky, opulently textured and has insanely good poise and length. Right out of the gate you are impressed with the range of aromatics from lychee and starfruit to damp earth, wild mushroom and brandy soaked pear. Once on the attack, you are surprised by the freshness imparted in this wine that now stands at sixteen years of age. The soft mouthfeel gives this an err of elegance as the wine effortlessly glides across the mid palate with a bright beam of salinity. The captivating, exceedingly long finish produces the final crescendo. One thing is clear — this beautiful Bordeaux Blanc still has a long life ahead of it. Drink 2020-2035- 97 — 2 years ago
