Sierra Mar Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

Another excellent Loring Pinot…this one Sierra Mar vs earlier Gary’s vineyard…clear vs the Gary’s being muddy, straight up cherry on the nose but still refined, solid fruit but not overwhelming. — 3 days ago

Domaine de L'Agly

Les Cimes Côtes du Roussillon Villages Grenache Blend

Drank on 5/23/21

Bought from WineText, shared with Chris Lynch, Wes, Elizabeth and Riley at Wes and Elizabeth‘s.

There’s a spectrum of colored fruit to this well-balanced Cotes de Rousillon that I decanted for 15 minutes before drinking. The decanting did the wine some good, allowing the fruits to shine through the gaminess/leather on initial sniff. Ripe blueberry, raspberry, blackberry, currant, and graphite notes along with slight eucalyptus, licorice and black pepper notes.

The wine isn’t very elegant but has a strong “delicious” factor. Strong acidity, firm tannins, and medium-plus body went well with Riley’s NY strip steak topped with gorgonzola—served with corn and rice. A crowd pleaser. 95 points RP? Meh.

Sierra Mar Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016

Not generally a central coast Pinot fan but this was remarkable. Stellar lively acidity, surprising earth cola and fruit to balance and texture to savor. — a month ago

Heritage Selection Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2016

Pat’s back.

Nice vanilla, cherry, cola notes. Well-balanced and well-integrated oak. Went well with meatloaf and friends. From Chris Lynch’s parents to Wes and Elizabeth.

Le Chiuse

Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2001

I fondly recall selling this wine during 2009/2010. Properly stored bottles will drink extremely well through the decade.

Le Chiuse
Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
Eric Guido
Drink: 2021 - 2030
Tasted: Mar 2021
The 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is slightly darker in color yet just as vibrant as the Annata sitting beside it. The Riserva blossoms with autumnal spices, tobacco and florals, giving way to a display of bright strawberry with flowery undergrowth. It’s enveloping and soft upon entry, with stimulating acids and tart red fruits that create a push-and-pull of sweet and sour, coming across as zesty and full of energy. Fresh cherry pits, licorice and inner rose linger over a nuanced layer of tannin. This gorgeous wine of tension is on the verge of peaking, with many, many years of pleasurable drinking in store for us. I can sit with this for hours. Sampled from the winery cellar.”
