Hugely mineral nose. So much slate. Some lovely pure apricots as well. Gorgeous clarity and freshness. Killer. A mineral blizzard. So refined. Herbs as well. Just so clean and so Mosel. Palate is so elegant and a hint of creaminess and lovely saline, and elegant finish. This is pure class in a glass. Outrageous complexity. What length. The finish is insanely mineral with lingering flavors of apricot and peach. Super juicy and so clear. Saline. Awesome acid and mineral backbone. Still has more to say. Wow. I’ll be back. Such crunchy minerality. Sappy and so pure. Amazing length.

May 2022 from half bottle. Beerenauslese level riesling. Sweet-sour, very long finish, everything in place, delicious. — a month ago
More massive minerals on the epic nose. Pulverized slate dust. So complex. Apricot. Peach. So vivid. Some vulcanized rubber. Deeply penetrative nose. Herbal and salty. Rich, racy, creamy and very complex. Juicy and elegant. Serene. Yet suberb mineral structure and awesome purity. Almost tannic on the finish. Amazing breadth and depth. Finish is forever. What a wine! Citrus now on the nose. Tangerine juice. Pink grapefruit. Power, elegance and insane concentration. Wow. Superb depth. Endless depth. Special. — 5 days ago
Surprisingly good AFTER a lot of aeration. After 30 months in barrel and years on my rack I thought this would be in a good drinkable place from the cork, which was not unpleasant by the way. The predominant notes of Merlot and PV shown through in all stages, but the big take away was the breath and complexity increased with a couple days of air. (Vac’d plug of course) juicy, harvest fresh berries combined with just enough structure and herbal intrigue to make this delightful with artisan sausage pizza and our house smoky bacon bean soup. I had a chance to get a second bottle but it will be fun for someone else to taste a touch of North Carolina’s better half. — 15 days ago
This is erste Lage and a trocken version of riesling.
This is probably the best German trocken riesling I have had so far.
The nose is lemon, lemon zest, elder flower. Clean and neat. The palate is a laser beam acid drive. A clean and clear lemon note all along, some width, almost an RS mouthfeel in the width but the backbone is so strong that is drives the palate forward for ever. In the end there is lemon and lemon zest too and that acid drive making for a salivating finish. This is great — 14 days ago
