Colchagua Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Spicy and earthy. Quite nice with chicken ricotta pasta ($14) — 2 months ago

Domaine Giacometti

Batolaccio Cru des Agriate Patrimonio Vermentino 2018

A textural beauty - ripe fruit and tons of maquis herbs, with a heavy saline quality and mouthfeel hinting at oiliness. Enjoyed with lunch at Antoine Arena’s house (lucky us). Part of a full Giacometti lineup tasting. — 4 years ago

Gran Reserva Cab Franc. Very nice structure, tannic backbone, and dusty fruit balance. Enjoyable and age worthy. — 7 years ago

An extraordinary example of Chilean Cabernet Franc. Many years to go but soft and supple now. It's a treat — 7 years ago

Antoine Arena

Carco Patrimonio Nielluccio 2008

Rustic and developed. Stewed plums, medicinal black cherry, maquis herbs, muddy soil, wet stoneware pottery, tobacco and tomato leaf. Palate is intense, concentrated, and shows younger than the nose. 14% alcohol isn’t hiding, but is nearly balanced by silty tannin and juicy acidity. Rounder and darker than the Italian Sangiovese which may or may not be genetically related. Interesting wine, well paired with a casual bolognese style pasta. — 4 years ago

Clos Canarelli

Corse Figari Red Blend 2014

Smoky, chewy, black-fruited, maquis, granite, yet quite refined. A very classy expression of an extreme island terroir. — 7 years ago

Brick Pink Wine of the Sun & Earth Vin Gris Tuilé Central Coast Rosé Grenache Blend 2013

What a trip. So many weird words came up: burnt caramel, raisins, bourbon, nutty, dried mangos, Sherry, bananas foster, plum liquor, orange blossom. Paired amazing with fleur du maquis cheese. — 7 years ago
