Popped and poured; enjoyed over a 90 minute period. The 2019 “La Pièce sous le Bois” pours a glossy ruby color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, well…the nose is gorgeous, if not downright sexy. Freshly picked, perfectly ripened strawberries, porchini, forest floor and gentle warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and voluptuous. This is very well-made. The fruit is such a star it’s almost as if this could have been from Santa Cruz Mountains. Drinking well now and has the ability to be enjoyed through 2029. — 2 days ago

Big, thick, rich, waxy palate. Ripe syrupy apricots, mango, guava, Meyer lemon, hits of lime, mix of green and golden apples, over ripe pineapple, topical melon, paraffin, touch of oak toast, flint, sea fossils, saline, vanillin, cream, warm caramel, burnt toast, crumbled chalk, grippe, limestone with a bite, white and yellow florals. Big rich finish that’s lasts minutes with big earthy end that needs time to evolve and soften. — 8 months ago

Translucent gold color. Melons dominate the nose with hints of pears and camomile. Thick on the palate with some flint. Still young and lively at almost a decade old. Medium plus depth and medium finish. One of my favs! Shame they stopped making this a while ago. — 3 months ago
