Colle Massari

Rosso Riserva Montecucco Sangiovese Blend 2016

Quite nice. A good value when I bought it and even better now as it’s going for $19. From the owners of Poggio di Sotto which we had the good fortune to taste at recently. Quite complete. Tannins at this point are still pretty forbidding, but at this price a good one to stock away for the future. — 21 days ago

Poggio Argentato Maremma Toscana White Blend 2019

Yep. Tasted the traminer right out the gate. Shoulda left it in the North though, it’s got no business in Tuscany. Good wine nonetheless. — 2 months ago

Poggio al Tufo Rompicollo Toscana Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Dark ruby hue. Aromas of blackberry, blueberry, cassis, cherry, earthy, leather, raspberry, and tar. Medium-bodied, with medium tannins and medium-plus acidity. Rounded and smooth on the palate with a long, lasting finish. Complex yet approachable. 60% Sangiovese and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. — 10 days ago

Villa Patrizia

Istrico Montecucco Sangiovese 2015

Delectable Wine
9.1

Villa Patrizia’s 2015 Istrico Montecucco Sangiovese offers up a mix of dusty cherry and plum with balsamic spice, cedar and wild herbs. Velvety yet fresh and poised, with a fruit staining finish and resonating tannin, the 2015 is a beauty today and has plenty of mid-term potential. $23.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, May 2020) — 2 years ago
