First off Merry Christmas and 4 plus years ago I had this wine so I felt it appropriate to reproduce my notes from then as this is exactly the same - loved this wine so here we go
maybe because I am drinking a well rested and well taken care bottle of wine or maybe because it is a Big Bold Beautiful Napa Cab or all of the above but
This wine is singing to me and I am singing back - "that's the way I like it"
Color is dark ruby thick as a meaty steak - the smell opens with a mild smoky oak and blueberry bouquet which I love the blue fruit - The taste on my palate is between a medium / big bodied taste with a balanced and very fruit forward mouth watering experience - it has
flavors of ripe blueberries and blackberries with I think includes raspberries as well - fruit loaded for sure The finish is loooong, smooth / dry and its mild fine tannins and flavors linger slightly but in harmony - best to
tame this with a Kobe steak but enjoy as a standalone - this is a relaxing wine - one that you have to relax as a storm approaches or to celebrate an awesome inspiring moment - "I'm a believer
Will last 10 years easy - all SMILES tonight
That is as retro as it gets for me - ALL SMILES
Last thing is be on the lookout as “we are getting the band back” and “we are on a mission from God” - can’t wait @Bill Bender In San Diego - go Wolfpack - any others there for the East vs West coast event - reach out and will share some epic stuff I promise

Watchin’ the Celts and drinking a decidedly old school Zin. Only 13.2%, the grapes originate from rocky mountain terroir. Classic Zin nose of brambly, inky blackberry, and cracked rock minerality. In the mouth is where it diverges from most current-day fruit bomb Zins. It’s relatively lean, with noticeable dynamic structure and great acids. The fruit is there, but it doesn’t smother other aspects of the wine. Retro in the best way. This would absolutely strut with tagliatelle in bolognese or papardelle with duck sauce. — 3 years ago
Premier vin de 2021... ca doit commencer en grand et ce l’est! Une bouche grasse, crémeuse, riche avec des notes de pêche, citron, miel et un coté salin et de pierre. Une retro et longueur vraiment top. Miam ! — a year ago
Beautiful and elegantly racy nose of violets and red fruits. The palate is equally elegant and refined with slightly tart red fruit and approchable tannins on a long finish that leaves you mouth watering for more, great balance.
— 2 years ago
Dark purple with a thin rim and very pretty cherry red flecks. The nose on this beauty is just insanity. A core of black fruit punctuated by beautiful, beautiful dirt. A good bit of menthol smoke and unsmoked cigars. The fruit can be a bit shy at first but a blast of cherry and raspberry wakes you up. And there’s some funk here too. Beautiful, sexy, funky funk. Not too much, just enough to titillate.
Peloursin is a rare rare varietal to find out here in the wild. Think grapes like Petite Sirah or maybe Bonarda. Medium bodied and slightly intense but not too sharp. Always wonderful Howell Mountain fruit in the masterful hands of Mike Dunn and it shows. Low, low alcohol at 13.0 and that is so very nice. Needs plenty of time in the decanter. Wonderful acid and terrific balance and weight here. The notes in the mouth are reminiscent of the notes in the nose with some glorious cherry essence and forest floor. A most peculiar wine but a great one. I struggle to really think of a good comparison for it. It’s just really so damn good and that’s all that matters. — 4 months ago
A Burgundy-style Yarra PN with high concentration. Aroma of cranberry and mulberry jam. The palette shows a hint of sweetness while the acidity is not clear enough. The retro-taste is medium and jammy. Not so complicated as those PN of its same price level. Prefer a Cotes de Nuits Village with humbler price tag. — 2 years ago
