Opened for Joan/Brett visit. Excellent dessert wine with honeyed yellow flowers balanced by minerals and acids carrying through to palate and pleasant finish. Yum! Even better nine days later stored in Forestor bottle. Almost explosive tropical fruit notes balanced by excellent acidity and finish. Adding two points. Yum!! — a month ago

Savennières Chenin Blanc 2017

Really like this Wine, tasting ‘17 & ‘18 together, ‘17 notes. The Baumard family growing the noble Chenin at Rochefort in the Anjou for centuries, in 1953 they acquired a vineyard in the Quarts de Chaume, & in 1968, purchased acreage in Savennieres. Straw with full fruit and light spice aromas. On the palate ripe apple, pear & melon, complex, with vivid acidity. Lingering, ending with mineral and sweet honey character. Wow. A white that should age well. Had ‘16 a while ago, and also great! — 9 months ago

In 1953, Jean Baumard acquired vineyard in Quarts de Chaume, in 1968, purchased substantial acreage in Savennieres. Today Jean’s son, Florent, manages the winery. Aromas of green fruits, floral and flinty notes. On the palate green apple, pear, melon and slight nutty flavors, well balanced with acidity. Medium+ length ending, no fluttering with fresh juicy mineral, just like the butterfly on the label! Will age well if you can resist opening. — 2 years ago

Vintage 2007 | My goodness. Chaume is such a privileged location. And happily... one that a lot of people do not know yet. Claude Papin is a top winegrower. Mahony colour. Deep mahony.
