Etna Rosso DOC Nerello Mascalese 2017

This wine does a little Pinot Noir act, medium ruby in the glass with earthy red fruit on the nose. The Sicilian grapes were grown on the slopes of Mt. Etna, and owner Michele Faro spoke during a Zoom gathering about his love of the volcanic soil. The nose also offers notes of coffee, sage and eucalyptus. The palate definitely shows the volcanic origin along with spice and pepper, plus a firm tannic structure. The sip finishes clean and savory. Very tasty. — a month ago

Easy light wine. I think I remember the Pietradolce being better though — 8 months ago

Vigna Barbagalli Etna Rosso DOC Nerello Mascalese 2011

Lovely Sicilian wine for the Sicilian dinner at Lucques. Full bodied and slightly rustic. Just what you would expect. Great match for the food. — 5 years ago

Contrada Rampante Etna Rosso 2017

Delectable Wine

Darkly elegant and poised, the 2017 Etna Rosso Contrada Rampante slowly comes to life. Exotic spice scents emerge, mixed with smoky crushed stone, dried roses and black cherries. It’s silky-smooth with medium-bodied weight, complemented by bright acidity and a cooling mix of red and blue fruits. Sweet tannins and minerals mingle through the long, mouthwatering finale, leaving a lightly structured feel as inner violet florals slowly fade. This is incredibly pretty and already highly enjoyable, yet has short-term cellaring potential as well. Nicely done! (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2021)

Vigna Sant'Andrea 2016

Gold with almost amber hue the wine has a strong aroma of skin contact wines which to me translates in a whiff of mustiness that disappears with time in the glass. Honey, orange peel, strawberry water, white flowers, pear and ginger. In the mouth it is viscous and bold and you can detect tannins, all supported by great acidity. — a year ago

Etna Bianco White Blend 2014

"Classic" Carricante blend from high quality producer, wish the acid shone through a little more but all in all nice floral and minerality. #Etnaisliterallyerupting — 5 years ago

Saman Hosseini

Possesses the most clearly delineated etna typicity and nerelo mascalese rose I’ve had, and without excessive extract.
