Wine I drank with Ryan the night we got engaged — a month ago
Heavily oaked with ripe tropical fruit and apricots backed by dried herbs, nutmeg, and vanilla. Finish indicates significant malolactic fermantation, a bit short for the money. All in all, a solid wine, but also a bit richer and oakier than I prefer. — a month ago
Light, fruity, and tart. Candy apple and peach. Still has lots and lots of time to mature but it isn’t an awkward teenager. Even though it’s a slow developer, it’s graceful and athletic as heck.
It reminds me of going to the county fair as a high schooler, wearing my letterman jacket, thinking I was so cool and nothing could be better. — 8 days ago
A Hall bottling I’ve not heard about before. Inaugural vintage is 2014. Predominately from Calistoga and Saint Helena (hence North End of the valley). 22 months 80% new French oak.
No detail notes, but this is beautifully balanced and elegant. Approachable but have the structure for 20-25 years cellaring.
Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers! — 3 days ago
We had the 2014 Vintage 6/20/21. This is a good California Cab. The tannins were smoothed out. The palate featured. Plum, blackberry and oak. Fruit forward, full bodied wine. — 3 days ago
