Les Lunes Wine

Arnold's Block Carignane 2017

The fellas who run Les Lunes are best in the biz at Carignan. This, as it goes, is excellent Carignan, from a different block showing in the profile (but Delectable makes it hard to add a new wine). It's perfumed and elegant, loaded with spice and tannin, and about as fully steeped concentrated with flavor as anything you'll find in. Vietnamese cinnamon dusted raspberries, black plums, and cedar. Highly acidic, though not abruptly tart and with big, well integrated tannins. Light bodied and plenty of minerals to follow. — 5 days ago

Martha Stoumen

Mendo Benchlands Zinfandel-Nero d'Avola Blend 2019

Best Martha to date. Her wines get interesting at this level, beyond Post Flirtation. Here she channels Sicily and projects Cali through two grapes she adores - Nero D’Avola and Zin.Dark brew of juicy fruits and toasted spice. Plums, Driscoll’s blackberries, ripe raspberries. Cinnamon and cardamom. — 11 days ago

@Josh Morgenthau I’d say comparative. Blackberries - sour and juicy the way they are in the grocery store vs wild caught which I think can be more concentrated flavor and sweeter

Makes sense! Have yet to try her wines. Would you seek this out or another cuvee for a first timer?

@Josh Morgenthau she makes wonderful wines. I would skip over her post flirtation line of wines and focus on the others. Her wines are maybe slightly more expensive than they should be but they are very good nevertheless.

Trader Joe's

Platinum Reserve Atlas Peak Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Color of dark purple. Nose of dark chocolate, blackberry, strawberry jam, strength of alcohol, plum, and fermented prune. Taste of mellow tannins, dark fruits, raisin, subtle sweetness with hint of mineral, quite mouthful and silky, and a bit peppery. Aftertaste reemphasize the smoothest. A bit too sweet for me, but clean and a crowd pleaser. — 9 hours ago

Kumeu River

Maté's Vineyard Chardonnay 2012

Medium lemon in colour. An intriguing classy nose showing funky leesy notes, nectarine, cashew nut, flint and gunsmoke - many nuances. Palate staining citric intensity. One of the world’s great new world Chardonnays - no exaggeration. Has become an annual purchase for me. Postscript:: Similar notes to the 2010 vintage 193 weeks ago. This year I bought the “Hunting Hill” and “Coddington” Cuvées for the first time. Will be interesting to see the differences. — 5 days ago

@Jan A That’s good Jan. I never dreamt the distribution would be as wide as this.

I have not seen their Pinots here, but would love to taste those at some point. I’m guessing they are worth a try.

@Greg Gosselin I’ve only had their Hunting Hill Pinot 194 weeks ago in Wellington at the NZ Pinot Celebration and it was very good. Notes here on Delectable but I think the Chardonnay remains Star of the Show.

Agharta Wines

Black Label Syrah Blend 2006

@paxmahle kills it His alternate label exudes a refined Syrah. Deep rich sweet cherry with perfectly refined tannins. Light hints of black pepper add depth and character. Lower amounts of acidity, mean this is ripe for consuming. Just awesome — 8 days ago

Robert Sinskey Vineyards

Los Carneros Pinot Noir 2015

RSV has just under 200 acres of vineyards in 5 Carneros locations & a winery in the Stags Leap District. The wines are 100% organic. Ruby with delightful berry, cherry & spice aromas that carries through to palate with strawberry & cherry and complex spice, citrus and a touch of oak with fine soft tannins. Lively acidity gives the wine good balance, carries through the finish with an earthy creamy characteristic ending with notes of vanilla spice. Nice! — 5 days ago
