It’s time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Here's a delicious one from Saint Emilion.
Dark ruby in color with a short purple rim.
Fruity nose of blackcurrants, black plums, vanilla, dark coffee, oak, chocolates, fresh herbs, tobacco leaf, light black tea and black pepper.
Full-bodied and soft with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, earth, vanilla, licorice, spices, peppercorn, tobacco, chocolates and dark coffee.
Nice length on the finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a very tasty Merlot based red blend from Bordeaux. Showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel.
Good right out of the bottle and better after 2 hours of airtime.
I had it a year ago, and it is drinking much better now. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.
Tasty and spicy. Rich and elegant.
I paired it with a Charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.
A blend of 68% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in French oak barrels (30% new).
14.5% alcohol by volume.
92 points.

Beautiful nose that was truly overshadowed by the palette presentation! Aromatic notes of cedar joined the complex tannins that while soft, needed a decant to take their rightful place. And while Parker has this wine in decline, I believe that this wine continues to show beautifully and should have many more years in a cellar. — 6 days ago
Deep ruby color with a viscous grip of the glass. Fresh flowers and herbs, cranberry, spearmint, but otherwise youthful nose. Medium weight, medium plus alcohol, dry. Red fruits are more prominent on the front palate with medium acidity, and medium gripped tannins. Medium finish. Way too early to open this one. My fault. It will add at least 2 points with age. Thankfully, I have more that I will not disturb.

Blend of Merlot with 5% Carmenere and 5% Petit Verdot. Deep Ruby with aromas of red berry fruits, floral and spice notes. On the palate flavors of ripe cherry and raspberry with dried flower and baking spice. Fine tannins on medium finish ending with a fruit character, good to drink now! — 8 days ago
With Camerons. One bottle duff. The other opening up nicely between hour 3 and 4 of opening, thereafter wonderful. — 8 days ago

Wow what an amazing buy. Complex nose, classic but complex. Right bank stunner. Cedar, truffle, cassis, olive tapenade , slate, salt, with even an iron complement. Quite structured with amazing tannins still rounding out the fruit. Dark berries, blueberries , ripe blackberries, great tannins to give this wine the structure it needs to keep on aging. Great now, would love to try again in another 5 years. 14.5% — 6 days ago
