The 2020 “Vicarious” Pinot Noir is now officially an enigma to me. I’ve had three bottles of it over the past month. Each bottle has grown progressively in expression as well as character. We’re talking about three different wines in that short span of time. The best news being: every time I open a bottle it gets better.
2020 was a difficult vintage for, well all of us really, Sonoma Coast and County included, which is where the Vicarious was sourced. That said, there’s a very real resilience to this Pinot and I’m becoming more aware of it each time I pop a fresh bottle.
It’s a bit green in both its nose and palate- but there’s life there. Life, so to say, if not maturity.
By the time you read this it will have likely changed again.
To me, more than any other measure like ‘points’ or ramblings of bramble berries found on a forrest floor- the 2020 Vicarious Pinot Noir is proof that wine is very much a living thing.

Medium garnet in color with a nose of plum sauce, dark and red cherries, potpourri, brown sugar, and maybe a hint of gun smoke. Nose is delightful and develops the longer it is in the glass. The age has smoothed this wine out nicely. No sharpness at all. No tannin to speak of. Lingering flavors of a cherry jolly rancher on the finish. I remember tasting this in either ‘16 or ‘17 and thinking it had body closer to a cab. I think that has helped this wine to age gracefully. Drink now. First experience with an aged Pinot. I have another bottle of this. Would seem like it would go well with Chicken Parmesan. I’ll make that for my other bottle. — 6 months ago

Don't remember, just recall I took a photos as it was nice — 4 months ago
Perfect with a steak, low tannins, no after taste, no bite, goes down really nice. It’s a beautiful wine! — 5 months ago
Ok suuuuper interesting, get this, it’s nice and acidic with a little tannin and bitterness in proper orangey fashion, but I get BUBBLEGUM, green tea, melon, green apple (because all acidic white grapes taste like green apple to me :/), and smells like sherry. Very weird and I appreciate it. — 7 months ago
