Mclaren Vale

Blue Eyed Boy Shiraz 2016

Dark purple/black color. Intense aromas of blueberry, vanilla, smokey bacon fat and caramel. The bold palate is quite complex. Flavors of blue/black berry fruit, dark chocolate, maple, ripe plums, black pepper and coffee. Rich and plush. Mouth coating texture. Long finish and chewy tannins. Ultra full bodied and quite expressive. Works especially well with grilled meat. — 15 days ago

Individual Vineyard Selection Eden Valley Dry Riesling 2017

See previous note in August 2022. Vines planted in 1961 in the Eden Valley. A fuller riper style than the usual Pewsey Vale - still finishing dry. Aromatics of Lemon and Lime. The terroir and the quality of the fruit showing through. Not a hint of TDN (Kerosene/Petrol) showing through. Could cellar for another 3 to 4 years if desired up to its 10th birthday. — 13 days ago

Pewsey Vale Vineyard

Museum Reserve The Contours Riesling 2010

Medium straw lemon , with hint of green . Shows a touch of age with slight petrol notes along with the lemongrass , smoky , spicy , ripe apple . On the palate good density , with a creamy richness , those lemongrass , ripe apple , slightly spicy notes . Slightly rich and weighty though with lovely balanced acidity and good length . Really good now though can go a further 5-8 years without too much problem — 10 days ago

Carnival of Love McLaren Vale Shiraz 2016

Powerful yet elegant Aussie Shiraz. Dark ruby color. Aromas of raspberry, eucalyptus and cocoa. Palate is rich with plum and raspberry fruit along with notes of root beer, baking spices, black licorice and Earl Grey tea. Hint of vanilla on the long and lingering finish. The tannins are concentrated but well integrated. Plush, rich and intense but beautifully balanced. Aging nicely. — 2 months ago

Velvet Glove McLaren Vale Shiraz 2010

I disagree with those who did not give this wine a high rating. I think it is as stunning as it is powerful. Blackberry jam, mocha, vanilla, espresso, dark cherries, and cedar. A deep purple color, a gorgeous bouquet and a fabulous, lingering finish. A magnificent Shiraz. — 2 months ago

Based on my previous bottle I didn’t have high hopes for this one. But it rocked!
Aged beautifully. Once a big bruiser of a wine, now it’s sophisticated and sensible.

Minerals, lemony and citrusy aromas with well balanced acidity. This is a very well made wine. I want to find more. — a month ago
