Domaine Marquis d'Angerville

Champans Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 1990

This has shed most of its tannin structure & seemed ready to go showing lots of dark cherry with good mineral & spice. — 21 days ago

Champans Volnay Pinot Noir 2014

If I was a man of greater means, this tasting would represent an annual ritual of sampling. As it was, we got a one time peek into the upward climb of such intensity and focus- all coiled violets and crushed black fruits. It’s so coiled it almost snarls in the glass. Part 5 of the first half of guys weekend. — a month ago

The pros say to@e to drink the 2008’s. This may last a few more years but I think it is peaking/plateauing

Domaine Marquis d'Angerville

Clos des Ducs Monopole Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2011

This is the epitome of elegance with a powerful but laidback structure. Dark berries, violets, crushed roses, cinnamon and other spices, delicious from the start but lots of tension and structure. Deceptively accessible. Great stuff and made to last, drink or hold. Enthusiastically recommended ! — a month ago

Domaine du Jaugaret

St. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2006

High tone nose with a touch of va/ acetone. Translucent and almost no sediment in the bottle.. really old school a la Bel Air-Marquis D’Aligre. Palate is electric, very classically structured and fresh as a daisy. Nose takes a day to start showing floral and fruit notes and classic st Julien character. Very good, almost great; the aromatics never really soar. Bought at the domaine; Jaugaret is an organic and small production family winery (surrounded by mega châteaux). — 3 days ago

These guys march to their own drummer. Haven’t had (or seen) one in decades.
