4Corks is having a virtual chef and wine dinner tonight at our house. We sold kits at the liquor store. They got recipes and grocery list. They cook along with chef and our wine guy talks about the wines. Everyone having a good time. Great food. We have 40 people cooking and drinking along. So fun! — 20 hours ago

Château Palmer

Alter Ego Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

2016 was young, but this was my first Palmer. Alter Ego is the second label. Very enjoyable wine. It paired well with lamb, and cheese. Good fruit, enjoyable tannins. Not too acidic. Didn’t have the depth that an older wine might have, but a great experience. Looking forward to more Palmer in my life. — 12 days ago

Château Bel Air-Marquis d'Aligre

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 1996

As others have noted, a world away from modern Bordeaux. High toned, as much red fruit driven as black, minimal (no?) wood or extraction. Accessible with a bit of air and continued to evolve over the next day. Raspberry, plum skin, black currant, tobacco leaf, old leather and earth. Tastes like a decent proportion of cab franc. Autumnal, austere, but not unwelcoming. Feels like something to sip on a quiet night in a wood paneled study by a fireplace. — 9 days ago

Château d'Agassac

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

2018 vintage. This fairytale Château is owned by insurance company Groupama who brought in renowned consultant Stéphane Derononcourt in 2014. Not sure about the exact blend of this vintage, probably mainly Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and a bit of Cabernet Franc. This wine starts to shine already after 10 minutes in the glass. The perfume is very fresh (especially considering the warm vintage) and flowery. In the mouth it is very elegant, with juicy cassis, soft tannin and very good length. If you are looking for a blockbuster this is not your wine, if you fancy Margaux-like finesse it's well worth your 16 euros. Very moderate alcohol for the vintage (13 % abv.). — a day ago

Leather and smoke on the nose. Dark and tannic on the palate. Love it. For $65 would absolutely have again. — 7 days ago

Château Grand Tayac

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

I don’t drink a lot of Bordeaux, mainly because it doesn’t go with a lot of the Italian-ish stuff I cook, but I do enjoy a nice one when the food is conducive to it. This has lovely, composed, slightly plummy cassis fruit, and warm gravelly scents, along with a waft of sweet smoke. Great balance in the mouth (only 13%) with nice acids and super-soft tannins. — 13 days ago
