Château Margaux

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

Margaux, Michelin rated Chinese dishes plus new found friends equals the most pleasant of times. The wines balance allowed ample room for the Three Cup Sea Bass’ delicate profile to endure. The wine’s acidity paired extremely well with the rich and tangy General Tao’s coating the palate with pure freshness. The wine’s red fruit tones just flourished alongside the exquisite and saucy Pekin Duck. I would say this is a match made in heaven, but no, not because it may be too cliché but because it is far too real. Cheers. — 2 days ago

A rare treat (from a generous friend). Very elegant and opulent. I tasted a lot of plum, blackberry, and other dark fruits and a bit of cedar and tobacco. — 9 days ago

Grand Cru Classé en 1855 Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2000

I can find nothing wrong with this exquisite bottle. This is a wine you can stick your nose in the glass and get lost in depths, amid layers of swirling fruit and spice. It is both mellow and sultry, showing leather, pepper, peony and violet, and then bright and lively fruit on the palate, cherry and blackberry that are a bit ethereal. Unadulterated Margaux joy. — 8 days ago

Château Malescot St. Exupéry

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

NOSE: plum, cherry, soft cassis, raspberry leaf, wet earth (mud!), a little fig, and a mild toffee/coffee note that I associate w/Bordeaux. All very restrained.

TASTE: well made. Leaves, earth, cherry, plum, smooth tannins with that nice toffee bordeaux taste. A little cassis on the finish. Good, grownup wine! Not worth the price to me - but good, grownup wine. 92.

Dark rubi robe with a hint of brick color on the rim, nose of crushed flowers, cigar box, tobacco and blackcurrant, medium bodied, complex, elegant, fresh and balanced, ready to drink but will for sure last a fee decades more. Great bottle and we are happy we bought others :) — 3 days ago

Fantastic concentration and balance. Opaque purple color with nose of cherry liqueur, roses, dark chocolate and hint of sous bois. Persistent palate with dark fruits and floral elements that drives to a long finish. This is still tightly wound and needs time in a glass or decanter but will sing with a few hours of air. — 13 days ago

Just fantastic tonight. Truly singing and such a wonderful example of classic Bordeaux from a producer we love and have had the good fortune to visit. Paired with a grilled leg of lamb on a beautiful early fall evening. Classic nose, seamless on the palate, great acid. Finish is slightly thin but still really a great wine. So fun. Opened 5 hours before drinking, no decant. — 8 days ago
