Yeah I remember, but this bottle has some serious Peat & Smoke. Nice upgrade. Great winter nights pourOHH WOW! Amazing! Right there with lagavulin 16 — 7 years ago
Smoky with brief notes from me. Not as peaty as you would expect from the western isles. Had a tour of this distillery some years ago on the Isle of Skye which is the spiritual home of the Clan Donald ie McDonald. Probably prefer the peaty styles of Lagavulin and Laphroig. — 4 years ago
My first Ardberg and it left quite an impression. Gosh! This was like eating bacon and smoking cigars. Ron Swanson should be drinking this instead of Lagavulin 😂 Truly, it feels like someone decided to bottle up that campfire by the sea that's been drenched in bacon fat from dinner the night before. With water, the marine quality becomes more apparent, but that smoke just remains. Only with great concentration can one discern some fruit notes (citrus). The finish is just all about that endless peat. Surprisingly, this whisky was quite "smooth" despite all the extremities it brought. Definitely need to taste more Ardbegs to understand what's going on - not displeasing, but for now, Talisker's more up my alley in the category of peated whiskies. — 6 years ago
Smokey and sweet. After taste is okay. Lagavulin 16 has a much more distinctive and smoother after taste — 6 years ago
An amazing smoky taste reminiscent of a Lagavulin. — 9 years ago
I bought this at a large bottle shop in the Ginza in Tokyo in mid February, which specialised in Japanese Whisky. Quite expensive at $450 AUD but certainly of high quality. I was looking for something I thought would not be available in Australia but it turns out it is available for the same money!! A note of orange peel. The 55% ABV is a trifle hot but not overly so. The impact of the peat is not as pronounced as western isles heroes like Lagavulin and Laphroig. Smoky as expected and thoroughly satisfying. Had the last nip a few days ago. — a year ago

Burns Night dinner with rare roasted tri tip basted with Lagavulin. Drinking near fresh with mellowed tannin but bright fruit. Perfect match with the beef and the hint of peat smoke from the whisky added a happy note. Slainte Mhath. — 3 years ago
Very smoky like Lagavulin whiskey, but smooth — 5 years ago
Bought in Niseko Hokkaido in late January 2018. My first purchase of a Japanese Malt Whisky and I was mightily impressed. No small claim from a McDonald who loves Talisker Laphroig and Lagavulin!!! Compared with the Hibiki I bought duty free this Ichiros Malt was more sooty and tarry but ever so smooth. Reminiscent of Drambuie. Orange Peel and damp straw. Big price difference unfortunately. About $100 in Niseko and about $200 to $250 in Australia. — 8 years ago

Apparently one of the oldest Distillery sites in Scotland. Located by the sea on the Isle of Islay this receives the slowest distillation of any Islay malt, then spends 16 years in old oak casks before being bottled. This is very pungent, peaty and smoky. One of my favourite single malts. — 6 months ago
