Kephalonia, Ionian

Mov Prephylloxera Mavro 2020

Poured through a Venturi into a decanter prior to service. For a grape that has traditionally been used to make less-than-serious fortified wines, this was quite a serious Mavrodaphne indeed. From ungrafted vines, the 2020 “Mov” pours purple in color. A touch reticent early, this is developing and only beginners to open after about 30min after which it revealed it’s layered red and dark fruits, earth, cocoa, purple flowers, minerals and soft baking spices. Structure was medium+. Balanced and paired well with our beef and grilled eggplant. Only 800 bottles produced. — 2 months ago

Classic Robola of Kefalonia 2020

Very light with a slight yellow tint. Clean nose. Lots of amazing citrus. Hints of salinity. This is just perfect for a hot summer day. — a year ago

Nautilus Dry Red Mavrodaphne 2017

A lovely Greek wine. Raisin aromas that are almost port like. Prune, plum, and smoke notes. A great change of pace and if you like other old world wines, I'd recommend you give this a try. Good value at $18. — 2 years ago
