Stone Crib Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Grand Napa Vineyards Stone Crib Vineyard Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, Napa Valley, California

It's time for my
#FridayCabernetfix. Here is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley.

Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.

Fruity nose of blackberries, sweet cherries, cedar, spices, espresso, vanilla, dark chocolates, light earth, tobacco leaf and black pepper.

Full bodied and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, plums, cooked cherries, oak, dark chocolates, vanilla, licorice, cloves, spices, coffee, peppercorn, earth, black tea, light wet leaves and herbs.

Nice finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford is still young, and would be even better in a few years. Already showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel.

Rich, yet elegant. Nicely balanced and smooth.

Good right out of the bottle and better after 2 hours of airtime. Fruit forward and extracted.

This 4 year old will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Will be nice to revisit it in 3 years and see how it evolved.

Good by itself or with food. Paired beautifully with a filet minion and asparagus.

Grapes were aged for 24 months in (80% new) French Oak barrels. Limited Production.

14.8% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$165.

Wm. Harrison Vineyards & Winery (William Harrison)

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

William Harrison Vineyards and Winery, StHelena, cabernet sauvignon 2018. Bill Harrison has done a fantastic job with these grapes. The bouquet is driving home a black licorice and smoke! This is probably due to the Tufa soil in Saint Helena. Very nice bouquet. The palate is immediately flooded with big dark red and black fruit such as blackberry, fig, and black plum. Following the fruit, there are hints of oak and graphite. Then comes the spicy dark chocolate finish. However, there is just a hint of sharp aftertaste on the finish. However, it dissipates relatively quick. And best of all, the finish is also very dry!! I highly recommend this cab. — 7 days ago

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark purple color. Fruit forward aromas of black currant, blackberry, violets and graphite. Pallet features dark fruit, baking spices, bakers chocolate and that ever present graphite. Rich and luxurious. Tannins are nicely integrated with just enough acidity. Fruit was restrained. Very Left Bank “Bordeaux-like” Red. — 10 hours ago

Grand Reserve Lot #102 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

The higher alcohol content of this wine made this slightly more bitter than I would like, but still quite good! Very good value. — 10 days ago

Napa Valley Merlot 1997

It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!

Deep ruby in color with a wide reddish /brick rim.

Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity and mouthfeel.

Showing blackberries, black currants, plums, earth, cedar, leather, chocolates, tobacco, mildew, light vinaigrette and black pepper.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 25 year old Merlot is a tad tired, but still very enjoyable.

I've had this Merlot before, but it was a more recent vintage. I have a feeling it's this specific bottle that is flawed. It might be improper storage.

Big tannins show up after 4 hours in a decanter.

Regardless of how it is showing now, it's always nice to try these kind of wines.

A blend of 85% Merlot with 15% Cabernet Sauvignon.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

$100 (current vintage).

Insignia Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2018

Blend of 87% Cab Sauv, 8% Petit Verdot, 3% Malbec and 2% Cab Franc sourced from estate-owned vineyards, aged 24 months in 100% new French oak. Deep Ruby, dark fruits, spice, complex nose. On the palate flavors of rich berry fruits, spice and vanilla oak, well structured harmonious wine. Fine soft rich tannins, long finish ending with fruit, tobacco and sweet earthy tones. Tasting great, young and juicy, should easily last another couple of decades+ in the bottle. Wow! — 7 days ago

Ca' Togni Sweet Red Muskattrollinger 1994

This is my first experience with this grape and this wine. I was given this wine by a close friend, the 1994 Ca' Togni Sweet Red Wine Philip Togni Vineyard Spring Mountain St. Helena, California. The grape is the Muskat Trollinger Muscat Hamburg.

On the nose there is licorice, leather, coffee and dark earth.

On the palate is licorice, buttery nutty carmel, concentrated dried dark fruits and butterscotch.

This wine is medium to full bodied and has port feel and qualities, sweet very viscous medium acidity and tannins seem to be fully resolved that moves deliciously into a long sweet savory nutty finish. Continued great weekend to everyone, stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Flawless. This one gave me so much pleasure. Very well done. Not over the top or flamboyant. Just rich, velvety, layered and trustworthy. Wish I had an other bottle. — 24 days ago

Rouge No 3 Napa Valley Red Blend

What a pretty wine. A rather interesting multi vintage red blend from Napa Valley but made more in the old school style. Ruby red core with violet edges. A bright, floral nose begins to unfurl with summer flowers and fresh blackberries. There’s a nice element of cocoa and vanilla as well, along with dried herbs. As it warms in the glass, spice begins to assume a starring role.

Mostly Cabernet Franc to go with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. This isn’t a typical ultra ripe, big and bold Napa red blend designed to appease the masses. Though it may do just that because it is so very inviting and pleasing. Smooth tannins and easy going although this is serious stuff. The palate follows the nose closely with lovely red fruit and lively dark fruit. A bit of greenery and a bit more spice. Fun, fun stuff and highly recommended.

This young Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, is easy drinking and good right out of the bottle. Much better after a couple of hours in the decanter, though.

Smooth and elegant with a nice mouthfeel. A very nice sipping wine.
