Trarbacher Hühnerberg Feinherb Kabinett Riesling

Nose is piercingly Fresh peach. As it opens more floral. White peach flowers. With more air intense florality.

Palate acidity just grabs you. Best peach ever. Not a “pleasant drinker”. This is a fantastic bottle of wine. Maybe some green apple skin ? Yes. As it opens green apple.

Wow. This is a Fucking great bottle of wine. Feinherb. But huhnerberg Feinherb. It’s own animal. A beast.

As this aerates it flirts with magic. In a hard to describe way. The aromatics get just so filigreed. Ok. Aromatics are crazy. A tropical flower perfume that explodes the nose.

The palate so precise. Wow.

This would be higher if the palate were as good as the nose.

Major bottle variation from the last bottle which was merely solid.

Bought from fass selections.

Solaia Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2004

From a different source from my March bottle, this was equally a beast. Not showing quite as well, still a magical combination of black fruit and dark chocolate, even bigger than the average Solly. Needs time. — 2 months ago

Château Latour

Grand Vin de Château Latour Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1989

Intense. Iodine, inky blue fruit, ferrous, dark plum, blood. A real brooding beast of real quality. The finish is really long, savory and memorable. — 22 days ago

Domaine Jean Francois Garon

Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2001

Took a chance and while I don’t regret the purchase (my local wine shop hadn’t changed its price since first released, so a relative bargain), this 2001 Cote de Rotie is one step away from the next wine afterlife. The fruit has all but burned away revealing notes of burnt cherries, beef jerky,& balsamic. Pretty garnet tinged cherry color. Tannins still strong in the background- in its youth it must have been a beast. As my friend noted, drank like an aged Burgundy at the beginning. Did not decant. Paired beautifully with a grapefruit roasted chicken. — a month ago

Fait-Main Toyon Farm Chardonnay 2014

Ron R

Stunning, crystalline visual presentation. Leads into a honied, medium-weight palate. Lots of texture and layers meet soft acidity. Pineapple and guava dominate the finish. A sexy little beast for sure. This has arrived at its apex - drink now. — 8 days ago

Pesenti Vineyard Zinfandel 2017

Shay A

Along with a vintage bottle of Roederer’s L’Ermitage, I always open a Zinfandel on the 4th of July. Perfect pairings for grilling out and a relaxed day!

I’ve had the Pesenti a few times now (this is my first with the 2017), and it’s always a different beast to me than other Turley zins. In fact, I’m consistently shocked this is a Paso zin as I’d expect this to taste 2-3times as intense. I decanted for two hours, and then consumed over the next 2-3. Ruby in the glass, immediately on the nose this is spicy. Potpourri, black peppered black cherries, underripe raspberries and blackberries, and cedar on the nose. The body is nowhere near as rich as you’d expect, and the acidity is really nice and nervy. It lends to the profile having a spicy and tart mid palate. Rhubarb and peppercorn crusted pomegranate dominate here. It wears its mid 15ABV well. Would be curious to see how this changes with age…

A beast of a wine! Needed that extra time in bottle but ready to pop and drink for those of you that have this vintage. Big extraction and flavor that this wine is know for. — a month ago
