v10. Very nice wine. Soft candied cherry and smoked meat nose. Bold, rich, blackberry, plum and a hint of tar fruit. Smooth, soft, slightly tart , chocolate finish. Nicely balanced — 5 years ago

An absolute beast despite an hour decant. Nose of volcanic earth, brilliant tannic structure supporting black and dark red fruit. Animale of the Malbec comes through with dense oak. Find a deep dark place in your cellar and forget for 10+ years this could be 99+. — 7 years ago

I still can’t drink the 12’s, too tightAnother 4th Friday for the books. What a much needed time out of the house and to be with friends after this past week.
A totally different beast than the ‘12 SLH Kosta Browne I had earlier in the week...so much more complexity! The nose had a lot of potpourri and lavender mixed with raspberry pie. Black tea, blackberry pie and brown sugar (just faint, not overwhelming). It’s bottles like this that bring me back. — 8 years ago

Costco wine Advent Calendar, Day 8.
I've never experienced this grape (Saperavi) or a wine from Georgia in the past (the country, not the state).
One of the better wines from the box thus far and quite good with mediterranean fare.
On the nose cherry, leather, and the slightest bit of barnyard.
Flavors are rich, but balanced with cherry, strawberry, and cranberry, backed by medium, well integrated tannins. Finish is medium plus. This feels like some sort of Grenache/Pinot Noir hybrid, but I belive the varietal is older than either of these. Nice

Wha wha weeee waaah. Teleportation straight back to burgundy - escargot under the clock tower, lunch on a bike ride of the country. Beast. Doesn’t get much better. — 5 years ago
It is a beast of a wine and yet it is approachable. Tannic but sweet tannins, full bodied, black fruits, mineral with a super long finish. The leather, gamey, Forrest floor undercurrent is starting to develop but will need another 5 years. A hedonistic bomb. Will give you pleasure for another 10 to 15 years easy. — 6 years ago
This is a beast of a Coudelet, find it and buy it! — 7 years ago
Easy to pair with food, wallet friendly. — 8 years ago
Pop n pour:
Time has taken care of the overt and opulent blend of bacon fat and blueberrypie.
Today, 5 years later, this has significantly more elegance (!) and better balance. Gorgeous notes of lavender, dark plums and blackberries, coffeebeans, a spicy pepper/cinnamon/nutmeg mixture and a whiff of cocoapowder.
Great wine. Delicious. — 4 years ago
Maal Bestial Malbec 2016: Full-bodied. Medium tannins. Big & bold fruit flavors. Plum, blackberry, black cherry, tobacco & spice, ending with a long smooth finish. A tremendous “beast” of a Malbec and the perfect pairing with Perry’s Famous Pork Chop dish! Cheers🍷 — 5 years ago
Man I forgot what a beast this wine is. Amazing fruit, beginning as dried and prunish but w air turns brambly, then more reddish. A bit of heat on the backend is tempered well by food. This wine is still showing young, I’d say entering prime drinking window. Wow. — 6 years ago
Very peaty, campfire smoke hits the nose immediately. There’s a hint of raisin and some tar, then a long saline finish. One of the best Islay’s I’ve had. It is a beast; consider yourself warned if you prefer a lighter or fruitier flavor profile. — 8 years ago
SQN is full of surprises. This Syrah is all about the blackberry cobbler, iodine and pencil shavings. Piercing focus, not the syrupy meat drippings and black olive tapenade of other bottlings. Tannins are fully resolved. Always such a pleasure to open one of Manfred’s treasures. Just ask @Roman Sukley. Goes great with roast beast.

First bottle of 2023 and went for different. This 2014 CDP Cuuevée is 100% Grenache and 💯 delicious. Rich, full bodied, licorice, sexy beast, sweet ripe fruit, are a few good descriptors.
