Siesta Key

Florida Chardonnay

I purchased this wine from Siesta Key Wine Bar, and unlike most of the sweet varietals they carry, this one is a luscious, full bodied traditional Chardonnay. It has notes of baked apple, pear, oak, & chalk. This wine has a full, buttery mouthfeel with a zesty finish. I love it! — a month ago

Castello di Amorosa

Cresta d'Oro Vineyard Rosto 2020

Castello di Amorosa Cresta d'Oro Vineyard Rosato di Pinot Noir 2020, California

Pale salmon in color.

Light nose of lemons, light strawberries, citrus, limes, river rocks, green apples, sea salt and earth.

Light to medium in body with medium plus acidity. Crisp and refreshing.

Dry on the palate with raspberries, strawberries, limes, grapefruits, bitter herbs, spices, light earth, green apples and minerals.

Nice length on the finish with limes.

This is a very enjoyable Rosé from Russian River Valley. Nicely balanced, crisp and refreshing. Light and engaging without being bitter nor tart.

This Single Vineyard is showing nice complexity already. Easy drinking and good by itself.

Gets earthier as it opens up with an old world feel (30 minutes).

Good by itself or with food. A tasty wine that I enjoyed all by itself by the pool.

12.5% alcohol by volume.

Sine Qua Non

The Hated Hunter Syrah 2017

Sine Qua Non vs Schrader cage fight tonight.

+4 hour decant (some fine cloudy sediment). A remarkable dark purplish garnet color. On the nose: red and black fruit, stewed meat, sandalwood, pepper, bacon, charcoal. Taste: a smooth, rich, soft, powerful wine with dark cherry, licorice, smoke, leather, pepper and a long dark chocolate espresso finish. YUM! It has everything you want. Its young(probably a better score if I have patience), but so good I might pop another bottle tomorrow. Cheers!

Tri-tip

California Red Blend

Cheers to dry skies for central Florida right now! I had to come outside and take advantage of the cooler/dry weather with this nice wine. Not sure what it’s a blend of but it’s full bodied with a smooth peppery finish. Cheers! — 20 days ago

Beringer Vineyards

California Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

2017 vintage opened July 2021. I’m not sure why peeps are giving this wine the sub-9.0 ratings that they are. This is a very drinkable wine with an excellent balance and a nice complexity. Mild scent of leather and dry clay on the nose. Strawberries and red raspberries on the front. A mid-level tannic structure — smooth but not smothering — which I’ve found to be a characteristic of Sonoma Cabs. Soft finish. Maybe a few afternotes, enough to consider it a “long finish”. Subtle but thoroughly enjoyable. Drinkable now, drinkable for at least another decade. — 5 days ago

8 Years in the Desert Zinfandel Blend 2016

This is a big and bold Zinfandel based red Blend from California.

Showing black fruits with tobacco, chocolates, coffee, cola, vanilla, cedar, licorice and mocha.

Full bodied with medium acidity.

Jammy and creamy. Smooth and easy drinking.

Enjoyable by itself, and would pair nicely with a burger.

Would be interesting to try it in a few years, as it might calm down a bit. Might be too sweet for some.

A blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Syrah.

Chavez Vineyard Alicante Bouschet Rosé 2020

Happy to be the first to post this. Delectable classified as a Rosé, but the HY boys say it was made as a white wine and presents as a Rosé.” Pic doesn’t capture the color. Beautiful nose, but finish a bit rough on opening. A few hours of air smoothed this out nicely. Wonderful on days 2 and 4. Part of the burgeoning SoCal wine scene. Keep an eye on these guys. Beautiful labels, better wines, terrific folks. 12.49% ABV. The NEW new California. Great things ahead! — 3 days ago

Kungfu Girl Washington State Riesling 2019

This is a nice and easy drinking Riesling from Columbia Valley.

Showing citrus, limes, lemons, spices, light diesel and minerals.

Medium bodied with high acidity. Well balanced, crisp and refreshing.

Dry to off dry on the palate with a tangy finish and better when properly chilled.

Good by itself or with food. Will pair nicely with spicy food.

Crushed peak season strawberries, rhubarb, sour cherries, pink peppercorn, violets, hibiscus, chalk. Incredibly drinkable, crushable, smashable. This wine makes me feel cool. I want to get drunk off of this wine - will always buy a bottle whenever I see one. — 5 days ago
