My COVID19 f.... the virus 🦠 mid week treat. Textbook. Anise first - tannins mostly resolved. A great wine no rusticity. Dried Raspberry mushrooms chanterelles - actually. A beautiful wine. After this drama is over I will have to stock up. It’s nice to drink alone but I am also sad I can not share some of these beauties. — 6 years ago

So good! Damn. Reminds me of a sparkling wine by Ganevat which I had on a few occasions years ago but have never been able to find again. Anyhow... Straight-up pear juice (I love pears), and minerally. There is an inherent sweetness to the fruit that makes you wonder - even though it says Brut, is there some RS? F-. Whatever. But all I can say is, it's damned delicious and a joy to drink. — 10 years ago

Micro-bubbles galore, Yum! This might be close second for a Friday evening standard for @David T but tonight it is flowing into glasses on the complete opposite side of the Country. A wonderful Blanc de Blanc Champagne.

Nose has freshly scrubbed lemon, grapefruit peel, sliced Granny Smith apple, wet chalk, cold brioche and Gardenia blossom in a breeze.

Palate is fresh orange peel, grapefruit peel (like really wow), tart green apple, fresh walnut, crunchy brioche with a little hint of sweetened butter and a splash of acidic ocean water.

Finish is intense, yet elegant and lasting for many minutes. We are quite looking forward the the evolution of this bottle across the evening, as it warms from 46°F and gains air time.

A departure from the brioche breadiness of some of the Côte des Blancs' more famous grandes maisons. PG & F also sets itself apart due to the high percentage of old vines at their relatively small estate, in a region suffering from a plethora of young vineyards. Crisp clean refreshing fruit forward. Tremendous bottle. Nose has massive mineral stank with meyer lemon and so many oyster shells. So saline. Deep and enveloping. The Chablis symphony in full effect. Stunning. Young a f on the palate but oh so promising. Perfect balance and terrific tension. Finish is clipped for now but this will grow with air. Luscious finish that is juicy, explosive and so textured. Lovely focus, linearity and hierarchy of flavors. I’ll be back as this airs. Amazing acid structure here. — 4 years ago

Just opening now...this is what you drink on a 96°F afternoon in the far reaches of western Massachusetts, and you should pick a wonderful vintage like this...

Beautiful greenish-yellow color. Nose has green apple peel, light green herbs, lime zest, warm citrus and beautiful minerality. Palate has wow acidity, wow minerality, wow citrus and wow refreshing, just a touch of saline on the med-long finish. I'm shocked at $20 for what has been delivered inside this bottle, very good effort. Damn I love '16 Burgundy. — 8 years ago

One of my absolute favorite new beverages this year - a Brut, from Normandy, made from apples. The nose comes across like the inner peel of a Honey Crisp but goes brilliantly and seductively dry on first kiss, then wet on your lips going deep and French as it lingers and meanders around your mouth with its electric effervescence bringing you to a more attentive state, while romancing you into its full embrace, as you beg it not to stop, and, at only 5% alcohol, you will break a slightly sideways smile, lick your lips, lay back and go all the f.....g way...
