Deep violet color. Spice-accented cherry and dark berry aromas show fine clarity and subtle floral and tobacco accents. Juicy dark fruit and spicecake flavors deepen with air, picking up cracked pepper and bitter chocolate notes on the back half. Finishes long and gently chewy, displaying sharp focus and well-knit tannins that fade smoothly into the wine's sappy fruit. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, December 2021)

The first of 3 Yalumba Octavius Shiraz brought to the Cairns BYO Indian restaurant. No formal notes but you could use the notes for the just posted Elderton Command. The other 2 Octavius drunk on the night were 2015 and 2016 which were excellent but way too young. — 10 months ago
Choosing the next Downs Club White wine from 44 masked entries. Great balance between fruit and oak - the former in the peaches/stone fruit style. Very balanced. Amazing QPR selling for $15 on the Elderton web site with a LUC to the Club at under $10. My choice on the night but sadly democracy prevailed and another wine got the nod. — 3 years ago
