Sakana dinner second time with Wilson Mabel 6/15/22 and again as with Altenberg last time basically matched perfectly with almost all the wonderful dishes. Outshone the Grand Cru Riesling Schlossberg easily. Perfect combo of fruits stones earthiness liveliness that complemented all the varieties. Only big exception was the complex Uni bowl of shiso leaf overlaid with mixture of uni wagu scallop salmon roe scallop yuzu jelly. Riesling was worse on that wonderful dish. — 14 days ago

These are night 2 notes. Nose has dense appley fruit and crushed rock. Only a little bit of that chicken broth note that I usually find more prominent. Big and dense in the mouth. Lots of rocky, seashell minerality. It’s got a lot of power, but the acids are lacking and the finish, while long, turns a wee bit bitter at the end. — 20 hours ago

Yet again a great match for Sakana with Hsing/Mimi but this time Vollenweider provided good competition. The Omakase was same as last time, last day of the monthly menu so a good comp. Thought the food was actually a bit off compared to previous time but still what a great combo with the wines. — 2 days ago
