Slightly deeper ruby compared to the Gevrey , with quite wide garnet rim . Denser more closed nose , darker fruits , cassis , dark cherry , touch of baking spice . On the palate quite taut and refined with more tannin , more mineral with a dark cherry , cassis notes . More noticeable tannin , polished but present, good fresh acidity and good length . This needs a little more time 2 or 3 years perhaps and will last well a further 5 -8 . A step up in complexity and persistence from the Gevrey 1er Cru . — 3 months ago
Pop and pour. An enticing deep ruby red color. On the nose: brambly cherry, floral, cloves, touch of funky earth. Taste: dark cherry, cedar, minerals, planting soil, baking spice with just a little tannic kick. Nice solid Burg with a better score to come. — 3 months ago
Garnet with significant bricking. The nose is all savoury with umami, barbecue meat, and smoke. The palate is again dominated by savoury meatiness. Soy. Very elegant. Classic burgundy - bold and powerful flavours with ethereal weight. — 2 months ago
Medium ruby , wide garnet / terracotta rim . Quite floral, violet and iris , red cherry, strawberry, cranberry and red currant . On the palate quite light and aromatic , sweet red fruits dominating, red cherry , red currant , raspberry with a slightly mineral stained chalky finish of medium length. Quite light tannins and refreshing acidity. This is showing well , very elegant and precise . Now and over the next 5-8 years — 3 months ago
One of the more accessible and expressive 05’s I’ve had in a while, Cathiard’s Vosne-esque Aux Murgers is open and giving wafting perfumed and spice laced dark berry fruit with violets, black tea and damp earth. The palate is pure silk, elegant and seductive, perhaps even belying the burly vintage typicity, with terrific persistence, balanced acids and soft tannins. An 05 that is finally ready to go! Beautiful wine. — 4 months ago
