Achleiten Smaragd Riesling 2018

Straw yellow hint of green; hefty riesling nose packed with hydrocarbons, wildflowers, and mountain stream stone-like minerals; high acids and tropical fruit and a long mouth-watering finish. With medium spicy thai food. — 10 days ago

Alte Point Federspiel Riesling 2012

This is actually the Hollerin, not the Federspiel, and deliciouser.
I just wish I could pronounce Smaragd.

Kollmitz Federspiel Grüner Veltliner 2014

[Tasted on September 6, 2020 at Home]

Purchased at the winery during visit in 2015. Wine is classified as Federspiel (between 11.5 and 12.5 ABV), which generally connotes wines that are dry, medium bodied and well balanced. This Gruner is from the Kollmitz vineyard (steep terraced slopes with Danube gravel soil) and is bottled at 12.0% ABV. Pepper and flint on the nose. Green apple and pear fruit, white pepper and smoke, with minerality which shines through. Nice acidity.

Zwickl Grüner Veltliner

Was a great bottle. Unfiltered so there’s some texture and plenty of that acidity you hope for in a gruner. — 3 months ago

Weitenberg Grüner Veltliner 2017

Ethereal (circa 1510): of the highest regions of the atmosphere; (from 1590s) an extended sense of light or air. In a boxing match, this featherweight Veyder-Malberg will light you up. In the mountains, it’s the stone you sick and the air you breathe at the solitude of 11,000 feet. — 3 days ago

Ried Loibenberg Smaragd Riesling 2017

Pretty high octane but hard to argue with the amount of tropical fruit aromas and general richness and depth. Maybe *slightly* hot. But always good to try new things over time. — 11 days ago
