Really nice, light, but full flavor and a nice peppery finish. From@Naked Wines. Tasted 8 March 2023 — 9 months ago
He’s baaaack! Second Zinfandel Blend for Dave Phinney after his non-compete clause expired. Intense aromas of wild raspberries, figs and black pepper along with hints of fennel seed and Forrest Floor. Lush fruit on the pallet (blackberry, currant and plums) along with hints of minerals and fresh herbs. Tannins are in balance with the acidity. Interesting blend. — 2 years ago
Great aromas and flavors of strawberries, plums, and raspberries. — 3 years ago
Very good and balanced Cabernet! Julia also liked it! — 9 months ago
A proprietary blend, made by Founder and Winemaker Dave Phinney, from Chardonnay, Roussanne, Viognier, Chenin Blanc, Muscat, and Vermentino from California. Golden yellow color with aromas of tropical and citrus fruit and melons, aged, 25% in new oak, 60% neutral & 15% stainless for 10 months. On the palate flavors of melons, citrus, and pears, hints of cinnamon spice and toasty oak. Long finish, lively acidity, good balance ending with fruit and mineral character. — 10 months ago
I finally was able to try this one! Wonderful blend of Grenache, Petite Syrah, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep purple color. Dark cherry, blueberry and plum aromas and flavors but with a distinct herbal quality. Hints of leather, black coffee, baking spices and cedar. Long and pleasant finish. I know that Dave Phinney gets criticized for simply producing “fruit bombs,” but this wine is really balanced and beautiful. So nicely integrated for such a young wine. — 3 years ago

2008. Phinney-era Prisoner. Aged extremely well, which in this case means it maintained its big fruit up front while the tannins and booziness have disappeared. Our guests enjoyed the Barbaresco with dinner, but really liked the dark sweet fruits in this wine. — 8 months ago
