Collares Ramisco 2013

I cannot describe how excited I’ve been for this bottle.

From Portugal’s tiny Colares wine region, this is the famed Ramisco grape, grown in vines in the sands off the coast of Sintra. Back when phylloxera destroyed most of Europe’s grapevines, these survived as the parasite couldn’t make its way in the sands the grapevines grew in. The Portuguese crown then nationalized the wine- unique to Portugal- and used it in diplomacy as a form of soft power.

The wine starts with a roughness that smooths into a beautiful, medium bodied flavour of black cherry and blackberry. Think of a juicy California Pinot Noir that manages the punch of a Rioja.

A wine worthy of its great history.

Il Grigio da San Felice Gran Selezione Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2010

Beautiful and classic Gran Selezione Chianti. Truly top-notch and just $48.50. Cherry followed by an astringent Chianti bite in the finish. — 3 months ago

Pezas da Portela Valdeorras Godello 2022

Más Godello, con un almuerzo de cangrejo, pulpo y verduras. Te llama la atención de inmediato y la mantiene. Un marco bastante resistente aquí con un acabado de tierra vivo. Awesome. — 5 months ago

Agricola San Felice

Il Grigio da San Felice Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2020

This wine has a dark purple color and a complex nose. Aromas of black cherry, violets, anise, clove, leather and earth are plentiful in the bouquet. The palate offers a medium mouthfeel with great acidity and firm tannins. The fruit flavors are carried along by the more savory aspects of the profile. It is a wine which would love a pairing with a steak or a pork chop, or with a meaty stew. — a month ago

Reserva Tinto Collares Ramisco 1969

Dark ruby-purple color, definitely shows a little VA, but this is so complex and shows aromas and flavors I’m struggling to identify, there is a subtle “foxy” aroma I associate with Native American hybrid grapes, very long finish, great wine!! — 2 months ago

@Doug Powers I have seen these bottles in a store near me. What kind of “heft” do these wines have? How do they carry the alcohol? Ty
