Splash decanted sometime prior to dinner; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. Tonight, the 2020 showed up! More impressive than my last experience back in January of this year. All of the previous notes apply but I perceived a little more oomph. Just outstanding stuff and a great pairing with veal osso bucco. I want to drink this all of the time. Crowd pleasing complex Chianti. Blend of Sangiovese (85%), Merlot (10%) and Colorino (5%). Aromas of dark berries, dry earth, black olives, leather and rosemary. Dried black cherry envelopes the pallet along with touches of dried cranberries, black licorice and tobacco. Soft tannins and well balanced/fresh acidity. Thank You, Ron B. Revisited in August 2022. Badia a Coltibuono, or "The Abbey of good harvest," lies in the heart of the Chianti Classico area, between Florence and Siena. The Abbey is approximately 2000 years old. Blend of 90% Sangiovese; 10% Colorino, Canaiolo, & Ciliegiolo. Deep Ruby color, aromas of black fruit and earthy spice nose. On the palate flavors of blackberry and cherry with savory tannins, good balance, black pepper and cacao notes. Medium+ finish ending with earthy mineral notes. Good now. — 5 months ago
