Pale straw in color with a golden hue.
Strong nose of citrus, vanilla, spices, oak, yellow apples, pears and white pepper.
Full bodied, buttery and smooth, with medium plus acidity.
Dry on the palate with citrus, melons, apples, light grapefruits, spices, hazelnuts, oak, vanilla and peppercorn.
Nice length on the finish with spices and almonds.
This is a very tasty Chardonnay from Russian River Valley.
Spicy and intriguing. Interesting with a buttery, smooth mouthfeel. Nicely balanced and Oaky.
Right out of the bottle, it is in your face kind of wine, but as it opens up, it calms down a bit with less oak and vanilla notes, so give it 20 minutes.
Will be nice to see how this evolves in 5 to 7 years.
Good by itself or with food. I paired it with a cheese plate.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

Goutorbe-Bouillot Reflets de Rivière Brut, Champagne. Blend of 60% Meunière, 20%Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay from vines near the village of Damery. Very traditional , fruity and complex , yet still has good acidity and freshness. I can imagine it will develop some more with age. Very enjoyable wine. Used it to wash down it a turkey burger. #champagne #frenchwhitewine #goutorbe-bouillon #villageofdamery #refletsderiviere #nicholaspearce #growerschampagne #nonvintagechampagne #champagneanytime — 3 years ago
Olivier Riviere La Bastia 2019, one of Riojas young guns and a big part of the postmodern revolution of the region. Le Bastid is a 90% Viura, 10% Garnacha Blanca, fermented and matured in 500 liter French oak barrels.
With resemblance to a good Burgundy the wine opens up with ripe white stonefruit (plum juice, white peaches) and a lemongrass herbiness. Followed by a whiff of toast and nuts that lies over a stoney minerality. Good energy on the palate with a fresh acidity and savoury qualities on the mid palate that brings dimension and complexity through the finish.
Paired with an improvised salmon and shrimp casserole in a mushroom infused velouté topped with fried parsley and sourdough croutons.
Serve it at 10-12 degree in a burgundy glass

Excellent, burgundian thinking somehow though unabashedly tempranillo. Not modern but no old-style rusticity or VA. — a year ago
