Thanksgiving, so decided to drink one of my better bottles of bubbly, this 2008 Cedric Bouchard “Le Haut-Lemblé” Blanc de Blancs. Like most of Bouchard’s work it is bottled at lower pressures which means very soft, fine bubbles on which ride flavors of kelp, seawater, roasted nuts and dried citrus rind. Gorgeously detailed and saline with mouthwatering clarity and depth. Delicious. — 2 days ago
Peppery nose indeed! The Syrah smells like it should - earthy.
That earth continues into flavors of this blend. Medium to heavier bodied, blackberry branches, chalk, dried dark cherries, licorice.
High fiving acidity and oak.
This is a plead all blend. And for the minimal $ a perfectly good time wine. — 21 days ago
HAPPY Thanksgiving! A Burgundy Thanksgiving part 1. Oysters overnight from Hog Island Oysters!
Double decant and pour. A irresistible pale straw color. On the nose: lemon, floral, toasted almonds, pear, vanilla. Taste: A rich, creamy, big wine with citrus, minerals, spicy oak, crushed stone, and a long honey peach dry finish. Great start. Cheers! — 4 days ago
Honeyed pears, lemon meringue pie, sea minerals and chalky marl and slate notes with hints of vanilla. Definitely a richer Chablis with 9 years aging on it. Otherworldly finish that lasts for days.
I disagree with those who say it's not worth it's price, as most "Les Clos" Chablis goes for well over $100, this came in around $90. — 10 days ago
The actual wine I purchased and photographed is Bouchard Pere & Fils Grand vin de Bourgogne RULLY, 2017. The wine good. It is drinking crisply right now. 100 % Chardonnay from their vynards at Bochard's Chateau De Beaune in COTE D'OR.
Everything about the wine from nose, color and palete is as it should be. Probably remain same or improve for a year or two. — 8 days ago
Nice acidity with some width to it and a little bit of richness, a delicious finish on pears mostly. Good bottle but lacks the zip of the best Perrières.
Beau vin sans être dans la même classe que les meilleurs Perrières, belle acidité et une bouche assez ample avec un peu de richesse, belle finale sur les poires. 90-91 — 3 days ago
The 2016 Blanc de Noirs Presle is an explosion of aromas, flavors and textures. A Champagne of tremendous aromatic intensity, the Presle screams with Pinot character, certainly more so than the earlier wines in this range. The Presle emerges from a tiny parcel of measuring 0.25 hectares planted with 10 different Pinot clones over 15 rows. It is beguiling, nuanced and so full of character. I love the energy here. Zero dosage. Disgorged: April, 2020. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, November 2020) — 10 days ago
