Château La Haute Gailloterie

Château de Haute-Serre

Cahors Malbec 2019

Absolutely beautiful wine: Tannic without being overly dry; fruity, without smacking of one fruit or another; balanced and quaffable astride flavorful, spice-heavy Haitian cuisine. Rich cinnamon did not overpower this wine; nor did the spicy heat of added sauces. Nuances of licorice and anise played well with the traditional Haitian ginger and cinnamon of tropical cuisine. I should say it was delightful, as I so rarely enjoy the balance of any wine so much that I drink an entire bottle alone. I highly recommend this Malbec with any tropical Atlantic island cuisine. — 10 days ago

Domaine de Marquiliani

Vin de Corse Rosé Gris de Marquiliani 2022

Delectable Wine

The 2022 Rosé Gris de Marquiliani is pretty and understated in the glass with a subtle blend of white smoke and young peaches. Silky and refined, this washes easily across the palate, guided by juicy acidity that further enhances its ripe orchard fruits. The 2022 turns toward the savory spectrum, finishing salty and mineral in style yet leaving the mouth salivating for more. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2023) — 8 months ago

Alpes de Haute Grenache Blend Rosé 2019

2019 | Red Blend
(60% Grenache, 25% Syrah & 15% Cinsault)
Lavendette; Rosé
Provence; Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, France
(91-93; Drink 2023-26)

Wow, this continues to be one of my favorite Provence rosés, ripe strawberry, cold peach, watermelon rind, damp limestone, white pepper; with +3Y of age we're at peak enjoyment.

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this afternoon with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our conductor Andris Nelsons is leading Julia ADOLPHE (Makeshift Castle), STRAUSS songs with orchestra (Muttertändelei, Opus 43, No. 2 / Wiegenlied, Opus 41, No. 1 / Waldseligkeit, Opus 49. No. 1 / Ruhe, meine Seele, Opus 27, No. 1 / Zueignung, Opus 10, No. 1 / Morgen, Opus 27, No. 4) all voiced by our favorite soprano Renée Fleming, and closing with STRAVINSKY (Petrushka, 1947 version).

*Unfortunately, cellist Yo-Yo Ma has had to withdraw from today's planned performance of Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 due to testing positive for COVID-19.

Clos Canarelli

Corse Figari Vermentino 2021

Take us to Corsica!!

We’re prepping for an upcoming class with this beauty, which comes from the southern tip of Corsica (the most southerly wine region of France 🇫🇷 ); an appellation called Corse Figari AOC.

The vineyards are farmed biodynamically (certified since 2006) and are situated on a plateau at the base of the Omu di Cagna mountain ⛰️, not far from dramatic Bonifacio cliffs rising up from the azure blue waters of the Mediterranean.

It’s made with Vermentinu (aka Rolle or Vermentino) by Clos Canarelli, devoted to producing high quality terroir-driven wines made with indigenous varieties.

This wine offers a bouquet of lemon and orange peel, white peach, crisp green apple, just-ripe pineapple, honeydew, citrus blossom, elderflower, crushed stone, arugula, and custard.

It is both vibrant and rich with a creamy mouthfeel and layered complexity. It’s absolutely delicious and we cannot wait to share it next month.
