Château Du Tonnerre

Domaine Testut

Montée de Tonnerre Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2017

Consistent with prior note, still tight. Seashell, lemon, fresh mint, flint smoke on the nose; palate adds kelp and melon to the mix. Has cut but also some viscosity. Overall feels very subdued right now, surely has more to give with air or time — 25 days ago

Les Boutots Bourgogne Tonnerre Chardonnay 2017

Nose has a touch of honey, Meyer lemon, white flowers. Refreshing acidity. Tons of minerality, lemon and touch of honey again. This has room to develop, but drinking so well right now. Did I say refreshing!? — 2 months ago

Domaine Romain Collet

Montée de Tonnerre Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2019

N: Butter and some oyster shell. Restrained, grass.
P:More salinity mixed w creaminess, fuller than the nose portends. Almost crisp. Refreshing, some white tree fruit in there.
See prior notes.
With an ash coated St. Maure, very nice indeed.

Citrus, crushed shells and vanilla. Very very pleasant and quite serious as well. A little young but why not? — a month ago

Domaine François Raveneau

Montée de Tonnerre Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2004

Taken to the Forest Theater in Carmel. Light gold color. Quiet nose. Soft notes of some citrus and sweet fruit. No flaws but overall uninspiring. Seems like Chez Raveneau missed with this one. — a month ago

@Mike Saviage Prob just not enough air time? I always open these several hours in advance and then recork for taking to the event

@Doug Powers @Eric Urbani Ha! Search my TNs and you’ll more btls of aged Raveneau than probably anyone on this board. Many of them 20+ years old. This had ~3 hrs in a decanter. Just not loving the 04 MdT… As Meadows says, “tasted multiple times with consistent notes”

@Mike Saviage, not in any way questioning what you tasted. Like you, I only drink older Raveneau (newest vintage I have is 1990), and actually had a completely dead bottle of 1986 Les Clos that I posted on earlier this year. As my brother always tells me, there are no great wines, just great bottles!! Cheers!

For the price this wine is amazing, better after day two. Mineral, rocks, citrus, green apple, medium acidity. — 4 months ago
