Blend of 65% Sauvignon Blanc & 35% Semillon, pale lemon-green with pronounce aromas of tropical and stone fruits with herb notes, 25% new oak. On the palate flavors of melon, apple and grapefruit with peppers and a touch of herbs. Medium+ length, balanced lively acidity, ending with a fruit and mineral character. Very good to drink now, will benefit from bottle aging. — 10 months ago
Pretty stark contrast between this and the Chateau Carbonnieux drank alongside. Much more regal, linear and mature. On the nose, mature dark fruit, forest floor, cassis, leather. Similar in the mouth. Some tannins with good acid. Needed about 2 hours in a decanter to fully realize potential. A proper and mature Pauillac. — 4 years ago
Night two at Bern’s. From a bottle with a typewritten label that replaced the original, and supposedly typed by Michael Broadbent according to the Somm. Although the color looks great, the bottle has 3 inches of ullage. Dark color, opaque, brownish tawny. Started off like the other older bottles we’ve had so far. Quiet at first with dusty fruit. With air it opens up with notes of dark plums, sweet currant, spice, cigar and wood desk. Nice structure and acidity. Great mouth feel. Hung on for several hours. Great showing, although the low fill only allowed us limited quantity to consume. — 6 months ago
On the nose, muted dark cassis, wild dark, brambly berries, dry stems, pepper, loamy soils, blackberry cola and dark fresh florals. The mouthfeel is big and lush. Tannins are soft and round. The fruits are very ripe. Blackberries, blueberries, dark cherries, black plum, black raspberries, dark chocolate, mocha powder, salted caramel, spice-box, soft leather, tobacco with ash, crushed dry rocks, stones, black tea & dark fresh florals. The finish is rich, lush and round fruits with just the right touch of earth. As well, the acidity is very good. The near monolithic brooding dark fruit begins the journey. Juicy cherries pave the way for pencil lead shavings with a definite nod to porcini mushrooms sitting on some leather. What it lacks is any long tasting finish. As to being a hot vintage….you’d never know. Some current reviews suggest more time in the bottle. The bones of this wine would suggest otherwise. — 4 months ago
Wow. Great white wine full of bold fruit and wood with a buttery taste that melts in your mouth. Definitely would get this again. — a year ago
