Holy cow, what a home run! This my friends its the taste of terroir. Dense and muscular, with a focused minerality that is keeping the beat.
Despite its youth it is very expressive and not holding back on its complexity. François Cotat La Grande Côte, a marvelous piece and an act in the magic of wine.
Pronounced intense aromas with a layered depth Lemon juice, kiwi, boxwood, dandelions almost reaching towards honey with a prominent Limestone mineraliy that is keeping the beat.
High piercing acidiy that cuts through the smooth and ripe edges. Dense and athletic on the mid palate with a layered complexity, salty backbone as it expands before closing up in a long tightening finish. — 2 days ago
Ever since the Somm III movie, the wines of Domaine de la Cote have been intriguing. About 2-3yrs ago, I had their Bloom’s Field and really enjoyed it. I was able to pick up a few of their Memorious, and this was my first time opening one.
In comparison to Bloom’s Field, I’d say this has less depth and complexity, but it has its own fun flair and character. Upon opening, the use of 100% whole clusters is easily noticeable. Crunchy, herbal twang with fleshy black cherry skin and stemminess notes are very concentrated. Made in a more fresh style with lower ABV, the mid palate focuses more on mineral and floral notes like herbs de Provence, dark potpourri, savory and underripe red and black fruits with green peppercorn. High acidity. A hybrid of lean Sonoma Coast Pinot and Willamette Valley Pinot. — 2 months ago
Pop and pour, notes from 2 hrs open. A bit more than a year since my last btl. On the nose: loads of grassy notes and sour apple, with some lemon peel in the background. On the palate: excellent acidity, and good juiciness with sweet apple, vanilla, and loads of wet stone. Comes off as sweeter than I remember. A touch short on the finish, which shows juicy with black pepper spice and the smallest bit of heat. — 2 months ago
very tasty and already approachable — 2 months ago
Probably not everyone’s cup of tea but I really liked it. Broad, powerful, acidity lower than I was expecting. Some seriously vegetal and herbal stuff, like hay, camomile and sage, going on along with ripe melon, grapefruit and pear, almond and chalk. — 3 months ago
