Bishop Barossa Valley Shiraz 2017

Dark ruby. Dark Jammy fruits, dried plum, black tea, white pepper. Attack is fresh, mouth is multilayered with dark cherry, black fruits, red berries, spices, tannins and structure finishing on a nice red fruit with freshness and length — 9 days ago

Mon Père Tasmania Shiraz 2010

Comparing 2 cool climate Syrahs - this is the 2nd one from Tasmania. Black pepper with a touch of asparagus (SO2) which blew off. After a few hours delightful florals of gardenia and pansy. Intriguing to say the least. On the medium plus palate fruit and spice driven - more rich than expected from a Tasmanian Syrah. Really delicious with ripe fleshy plum melded with the spicy pepper. Finishing with medium minus tannins. A classy cool climate Syrah a few points above the Salo from NZ. This Mon Pere won the 50th Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy at Royal Melbourne and hard to get from this boutique producer. I could only get 2 bottles and this was the last one. Sold out in a day after winning the Trophy. Total production of 250 cases. Wish I had a few more left. Made by Nick Glaetzer whose family built their reputation in the Barossa like Amon Ra. — a month ago

Could not agree more with your comment Bob “how you like to enjoy your wine.” For me, I prefer wines in their youth. Still on their upswing. More fruit and tannin. Don’t get me wrong tho, some wines with cellar age can be wonderful.

Amon-Ra Barossa Valley Unfiltered Shiraz 2005

Balanced. Fruit aromas. High alcohol content doesn’t show through as much as standard Australian reds. Lingering jammy flavor. Best Australian wine I’ve had. — 6 days ago

B Minor Victoria Shiraz 2017

Super smooth with a quite mild taste. Doesn’t feel too deep or shallow, slight peppery berry taste but nothing too strong. — 7 days ago
