This Pichon-Baron was in the earliest peak of its window, pure ✏️ and graphite cigar box nose, rich, intense, leading cassis, tar and a mineral and wonderfully tannic trip over the palate and a long, 40 second finish that was reminiscent dry red clay. Good news: I have 11 more in the case I cracked last night. Bad news: I’ll be in my 60’s before these open up and the secondary stuff really starts to show. — 12 days ago

Big heavy ripe dark fruit on nose. Overripe strawberry and raspberry. Dark fruit on the tongue with a lingering essence of molasses. Light tannins that squeeze the tongue and not the gums. Maybe a hind of baking cocoa. — 4 days ago

Lustrous gold color. Exotic citrus-herb nose; Buddha’s hand, then orange peel and bay leaf as it opens. Meyer lemon and mineral on the palate, not much orchard fruit. Lovely acid, but very dry, one almost wants a few grams RS to give this some more volume and balance. Think this will be better with some more cellar time. — 18 days ago

@Adam Beasley Nice. Not sure about the ‘17s but this was built for the long haul. Drinking almost like a silky, dense Albariño right now! Getting better the longer it’s open... just needs the right type of food at the moment.
