Vintage 2020 | My goodness, this mocca bomb is terrific! Compelling smell with wagonloads of mocca, but also black pepper, milkchocolate, cedar and vanilla. The taste is velvety with soft tannins that do not disturb. Drink it now. Did not know that Tuscan Syrah could be this good. Paired with zucchini tarts and a deer burger. — a year ago
Bellísimo! Eucalyptus gave way to lavender and cocoa. Tightly wound cherry with long tannic finish. Had with frito misto, gnocchi pomodoro, margherita pizza and herb rack of lamb at Casa di Don Alfonso. First indoor meal in >1 year. Was like riding a bike. — 5 years ago
Rich perfume of spices and pomegranate. Specifically pomegranate. Beautiful bee pollen and mulling spices. No harshness. The fragrance of a rich and blossoming garden of roses.
Woah. Zippity zip. We got acidity, and it’s medium to high but with the natural carbonation and juice juice juice, it just works man.
It’s got sour framboise beer qualities, but of course the tannins and the cola like quality just sings.

An airy, effusive and downright beautiful wine is the 2018 Taganan from the Tenerife Envínate property of modernist Spanish winemakers Laura Ramos, Jose Martínez, Roberto Santana and Alfonso Torrente. Created from 100-200 year old vines on volcanic soils, it’s a delicate, restrained wine with a gorgeous, smoky bouquet of sour cherry, strawberries and Provençal herbs; the palate, meanwhile, is saturated with very fine tannins, almost imperceptible acidity and nice length. Served lightly chilled, this is an exciting wine which should gain further interest with age. — 4 years ago
An order of Carthusian monks first found their way to Scala Dei in 1194 at the invitation of Alfonso I. The name "Scala Dei" means "stairway to heaven," and a visit through these transportive ruins remains a critical first stop if ever visiting the region. While monks no longer work the cellars, the Scala Dei wines remain solid - and often a relative value in comparison to those who've arrived in the last half century. Prior is Scala Dei's mid-tier of their three Priorat reds. High octane flavors of licorice, pepper, black plum, violet, and blueberry find balance with spicier, more elegant tones of sandalwood, rosewater, frankincense and gingerbread. While 15% abv, you’d never know per the bright acidity and chalky tannins - yet there remains, a warming medieval intrigue that conjures romantic images of hearthstones and velvet. A nice showing from Priorat’s pioneering monastery. — 8 years ago
Opened and let the wine breathe while our roast cooked. Aromas of dark berries that linger after a sip. Good tannin structure and acidity. Would cellar nicely. Went well with our beef pot roast. — 6 months ago
Library 2015s courtesy of Adam via Wine Merch. Cherry, hints of tobacco and cocoa. All the edges nicely softened. Great with Casa Don Alfonso. — 4 years ago

Mineral driven nose, with white flowers. Creamy lees. Chalky. Medium minus weight. Bright and fresh on the palate. — 7 years ago
Tons of sediment at least an inch. Decanted for 5 hours almost undrinkable before that but then opened up beautifully. Violets, sandalwood, soy a bit of tar. Great balance. Bellissimo! — 8 years ago
