Pleasantly surprised with this one. Found this is the back of my wine cellar forgotten about for a couple years. Ended up being a really nice old world Italian red. No idea what the vintage is — 3 years ago
Aurelio opened this inaugural vintage in honor of the passing of wine owner Luis Delgado.
Complex and complete. Youthful colrr that shows some age in the edge, but center is still purple. Nose is intensely cassis, animal/meaty (not dirty), minty, salted plum. This has a lot of life left, if anyone has bottles left. 😅 — 3 years ago

1st release of Montes Alpha was in 1988 when Montes became one of the first premium wineries in Chile. Today Aurelio Montes continues leading the winemaking effort. A blend of 90% Syrah, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon & 3% Viognier. Very dark red with aromas of berry fruit and cedar spice notes. On the palate blueberry and cherry flavors with cacao, leather and vanilla oak. Fine tannins, medium+ finish ending with toasty spice. Nice value. Tasted twice. — 2 years ago
£7.99 for a magnum at LIDL. Hard to go wrong with this wine at this price — 3 years ago
Took 2 hrs to open up, but excellent when it did. Dried roses and asphalt, complex on the palate with fine layers of red and black cherry, tobacco leaf. Long as all get out. Years to go. At Settimo Roma on the rooftop of Rome Sofitel Villa Borghese - worth the price for the view and great food/service. — 4 years ago

Deep garnet color. Aromas of dark cherry, black licorice, barnyard and leather. Pallet features black cherry/raspberry, baking spices and salty beef jerky. Big, bold and plush. Decent balance. Tannins have rounded nicely. Respectable. — 3 months ago
