Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Perfect deep garnet color. Fruit way too subdued for a 2019. Nose was flat. Jordan is a tried and true California cab. But this bottle was not a good showing for the $56 bucks at Costco. Just a nice red wine. Sorry — a month ago

Dark cherry bingo.

If you haven’t had a 10-15 year in bottle WS, you have missed special.

Happy New Year! 🎉🎆🎈🎊 🧨

Excellent vintage. I think even better for Pinot than Cabernet in some cases.

Baked blackberries, black raspberries, raspberries, black plum, baked, dark cherries, notes of blueberries, dry cranberries/rhubarb, maple syrup, limestone minerals, dry crushed rocks, dry, grilled meats, dry tobacco, wood shavings, anise, cinnamon stick, clove, nutmeg, dark spice, some black lichen, vanillin, warm caramel, sun tea, mid berry cola, dry twig, withering to decayed, dark, red, purple flowers, round acidity, well made, structured, balanced, elegant finish that lasts two-minutes and lands on dark spice, earthiness.

Les Pommiers Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2022

Baking spices out the gate. Cinnamon. Sour cherry jam. Fresh rain soaked soil in the back. Maybe I should have decanted it but I’m getting a fair bit of heat. Granted after pregnancy and newfound mom life I’m very out of practice. Maybe some strawberry jam. On the palate we have a medium light body juicy, bright red fruit and spice at the end. Slightly sticky tannins. Nice way to celebrate the holidays. An affordable splurge to pair with a cheese board or a lean cut of beef like a fillet. Beef Wellington would be perfect. I festive pork roast would also go well. — 16 days ago

Lytton Springs Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel Blend 2007

Lots of underlying fruitiness still there. Oak influence seems to have diminished. Solid Lytton Springs — 12 days ago

Dry Creek Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

This is a beautifully balanced style of Cabernet - 14.5%abv, elegant tannins, medium acidity and vibrant fruit all make this a wonderfully drinkable Cabernet. Blackberry, cassis, black cherry, raspberry, violet, plum, cedar, forest floor - it presses all the right buttons. Long finish, wonderful. — 20 days ago

East Bench Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel 2009

Excellent Zin with a lot of fruits; blackberries, cranberries and some dark cherries. Also, spice, cedar and more. Did not know what to expect as Zin’s don’t go for a lot of aging. Happy I found this one in my cellar and have a couple of other Ridge wines I need to drink up.

I stopped purchasing Ridge years ago as I got into lighter wines. Visited Ridge Winery last century and had an excellent tasting as I remember and met and chatted with Paul Draper.
