Federspiel Wachau Grüner Veltliner

6 days in. Crisp. Nice.

Wonderfully light bodied and focused. In the Bermuda Triangle of blind tasting indeed.

White pepper, white asparagus, hint of woodsy-honey, Grilled lime. Limestone.

This must be in a closed phase? Not much on the nose and not a whole lot on the palate. I’ve had this before with much more expression. I have to think it’s in a dumb phase right now. Never quite opened up after several hours.

Melons and stones. Bit of waxiness on the palate. Bright and clean up front with a faint creaminess on the finish.

Wonderful acidity. A little frizzante. Perfect with Asian food tonight. Love this wine. Perfect match for lightly breaded General Tso chicken.

This is Riesling. Really pretty. Apricot, peach skin, apple, kerosene and high acid. Great wine.

I love Austrian wines, but this was as boring as the label.

Caraway seed. Flaky sea salt. Expansive palate that scaffolds acids and amplifies texture. Now in day two, a show-stopper. A quiet vintage, but the giant within is awakening. Drink these now. #rudipichler #wachau #grunerveltliner #austrianwine
