Sipping Fine Wine

Deep Ruby with aromas of berry fruit and herb pepper spice with floral and earthy notes, sat on French oak for 18 mos (10% new). On the palate cherry and blueberry flavors, citrus, tea, herb spice, oak and earthy notes. Fine tannins, vivid acidity, good balance, well structured on long finish ending with earthy mineral tones. A powerhouse that will cellar well. Nice!

Big bold delicious with blackberry and blueberry. Minty notes, medicinal, with smoke/vanilla/toast, and some tertiary notes of leather and peppercorn. Tannins smooth, easy to drink...its very tasty, but just too much alcohol in the end..no doubt a long finish, but with that finish, I could blow fire...

Havenโ€™t been down under for a while. This is really nice, tho. Nice nose of treacle toffee and coffee grinds. The palate displays a deep reduction, complimented by violets and balsamic notes. Picks up intensity and urgency. 12 years in - very cool.

After 17 years the oak has not integrated. Smells of wood and tastes of wood.

First, if you havenโ€™t had this producers wines at 15-20 years of age, youโ€™re missing some spectacular juice. I bought this at auction for $38-$40 a bottle and because I was unaware of its storage, I was prepared to short decant it. Wellโ€ฆuntil I pulled the cork, smelled it and saw the color. This nearly 20 year old bottling is still big but with nice integration & evolution. I would say it has another 5-8 years of good life in it.

The palate fruit is ruby, ripe and lush; blackberries, boysenberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, black plum. Mid berry cola, dark chocolate to pudding, mocha powder, wet clay, light, black pepper, Asian spice, dry-ish tobacco, black licorice, some dry herbs-sage dominate, limestone, dry top soil, dry brush, used leather, sandlewood, fresh to slightly withering, dark, purple, red florals set/framed in violets and lavender. The acidity is near perfect. The well balanced, structured, knitted finish is excellent and lingers minutes. Steal for the price. Another excellent gourmet burger wine. Beef Patties from El Salchichero.

I havenโ€™t had a lot of experience with Two Hands and it is probably better known in the USA than Australia - like Mollydooker. Aromas of Plum, oak spice, liquorice and prune. On the full bodied palate there were sweet plummy characters with dark bitter chocolate - Opulent. My wife, Barb, loved this and she doesnโ€™t normally like big SA Shiraz - this became more medium bodied , strangely enough, with time in decanter. Skilful use of premium McLaren Vale fruit making it a delight to drink - very enjoyable.
