Trombetta Family Wines
Gap's Crown Vineyard Pinot Noir
Better on day 2. Needs lots of air. Deep, dark and slightly gritty.

Jul 24th, 2016Much more going on on the nose and palate with the #13 Apples and meat on the nose along with the menthol. The alcohol was restrained on the nose and palate. The structure was there but less firm. Good length. Unfortunately the bottle had died a couple of hours later when tasted again. #trombettafamilywines #pinotnoir #sonomacoast #gapscrown #ctbucklinwine

Jul 24th, 2016A profound and ripe nose driven by black and blue fruit. Alcohol is present but not overwhelming. The palate had med complexity but was quite tight with a sturdy structure. Again, chocolate and menthol and a strong acai berry note. Length was not too long. #trombettafamilywines #pinotnoir #sonomacoast #gapscrown #ctbucklinwine

Jul 24th, 2016The #11 is having some issues with aging. Edges are quite faded and the alcohol was very present on the nose as well as the palate. Menthol and chocolate were the dominate notes with some ripe fruit. Med + tannins were edgy and the acid was med. Lacked balance and length. #trombettafamilywines #pinotnoir #gapscrown #sonomacoast #ctbucklinwine

Jul 24th, 2016Highly extracted but incredible concentration and depth of black and red fruit with great spice. For 14.8% #abv this is well balanced. This is absolutely delicious and showing so well right now. #trombetta #sonoma #sonomapinotnoir #pinotnoir #sonomacoast #gapscrown #usa #california #ctbucklinwine

Jun 22nd, 2016Needs a decant. A gentle coax. Then it's off to the races. Awesome concentrated pinot that is still an intriguing textural challenge...soft and firm acid, lush and sharp fruit. Truly tasty. Will age great.

Apr 29th, 2016More color than in the Sonoma Coast offering shows immediately, a deeper and darker shade than the Sonoma Coast bottling. The nose is a little more savory, too, with more tea notes but still offering a basket full of bright fruit. The palate shows darker, but it does not go near what we might call “bold.” It is deeper and richer, again with food-friendly acidity to die for. 8 months oak 25% new.
